Dear Colleague,
Reminder: The Fall Into Your Major event is just ONE week away!
Attached you'll find our updated Marketing flyers and PowerPoint slides that you can
use to alert students of this opportunity. Please share with the staff in your department,
as you see fit (including social media & digital signage).
Do you know of any students that fall into these categories?
- Unsure of their major
- Have chosen a major but not sure it's the right fit for them
- Confident of their choice of major but lacking a clear career path, unsure of
what they can actually pursue with their major
The upcoming Fall Into Your Major event is just for them! As you come into contact with
undergraduate students who face these dilemmas, please help us spread the word about this
great opportunity for them to learn more about their academic and career options. By
attending this event, students will have the following opportunities:
- Use i-Pads to complete a Career Assessment or access their assessment results,
conduct occupational research and learn how to utilize RowdyJobs
- Meet with Academic Advisors to learn about the different Majors/Minors offered
at UTSA, learn about entrance requirements for particular programs and the process to
change or declare their major
- Meet with a Career Counselor to learn about possible career paths, employers
that hire UTSA students by industry, how to research occupations and employers, learn
occupational data including economic outlook and salary data, and potential internships by
industry
- Meet with University Health Professions Staff to learn more about Health
Profession requirements
- Meet with Student Leaders (Peer Mentors, TA's and Student Organization
Leaders) to learn a peer's perspective. Students can learn about their peers'
career path, job/internship experiences, career goals and more)
- Students will learn about the academic timelines, the cost of changing their
major and the importance of utilizing their MyPlan Career Assessment results
- Students will receive crucial academic and career information that will assist
them in making an informed decision; which can decrease the number of times students
changes their major and increase the UTSA graduation rate
- Students will receive an Academic Degree Plan and a 4 year Career Action Plan to
assist in taking action towards a major and career that is a good fit for them
- Enter to WIN one of seven textbook vouchers (valued at $100 each) at the UTSA
bookstore
