Hi All,
The UHPO crew will be out at a conference starting tomorrow and will return on Monday.
Just a couple of updates I wanted to send out before we go.
1. Next week on Thursday, February 12th, we will be having a Nursing Information
Session for students who identify as "Pre-Nursing." I have attached some
quarter-page flyers. If you don't mind handing them out to your students, we would be
sincerely appreciative. Why would a student attend this session instead of a walk-in?
First, no wait. Plus, we are going to talk to them about their competitiveness, their
grade point averages and the requirements to apply to nursing schools. So, please help
funnel people to this session.
2. Health Professions Day is February 26th. I will send out the schedule of the
panels soon. Please encourage your Health Professions students to attend. Of course, we
would love for you to come to see what the HP schools have to say as well. Until then, I
have attached a quarter-page flyer for you to hand out to students as you see fit.
3. 45 Hour Holds: Nursing, Dental Hygiene and Respiratory Care students can come to
UHPO to have their 45H hold assessed. If a student is viable for their program of choice,
we will REMOVE the hold. If the student is not viable, we will POST-DATE the hold to May
15, 2015 and tell the students that they need to go back your centers at a later date for
their "parallel plan" or "backup plan" conversation and degree plan.
We will also be discussing "backup plans" with these students before sending
them to see you all. I know that most centers are full with appointments right now so we
will remind students that since their holds have been removed, if they don't have
questions about major coursework, they can hold off on seeing you until later in the
semester.
Thank you so much for referring your students to us. It really helps us to get in contact
with as many pre-HP students as possible.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks,
Roxanna
