Hello all,
Just a reminder that we should no longer have any exceptions added to the core as this
impacts the student's academic transcripts with regards to the core component codes
and reflecting core complete. The THECB mandates all Texas public institutions have core
correctly noted on transcripts. On Monday alone there were at least 14 exceptions added
to the core. Please review my emails from last week (also attached), head on over to the
internal advising website
(
www.utsa.edu/advise/internal<http://www.utsa.edu/advise/internal>) or check out the
I Drive (I:/AcademicAdvising/Resources) for handy guides on how to add codes in SHATRNS or
SGASADD that will take care of approximately 98.25% of these issues.
We know that there will be instances where an exception may be needed, especially in the
case of a UTSA course being petitioned to substitute for another course. In these cases we
(the DW tech team) may add an exception. However, this is all occurring because we want
Banner to have correct core data. It cannot read exceptions in Degree Works which messes
with transcripts and data. In these cases we have to manually adjust Banner to reflect
these sorts of situations (shout out to all those who remember CAPP!)
If you run into an issue where you are not sure how to get a course into a specific place
in the DegreeWorks core without an exception try and ask your DegreeWorks expert in your
office first. If you do not have one, or if they do not know what to do, send the
student's ID number, name and situation to
DegreeWorks@utsa.edu<mailto:DegreeWorks@utsa.edu>. All pertinent documentation
and/or petition approvals should be in SSC.
If you have any questions, please email us at
DegreeWorks@utsa.edu<mailto:DegreeWorks@utsa.edu>.
