Dear All,
We are preparing to pack up our old offices and move to our new location. This is an exciting move, which will bring great benefits to our UTSA students. However, every once-in-a- while I feel anxiety creeping up in me about the unknown. Reminding myself that change is inevitable, I need to let go of my tension and 'flow with the winds of change.'
If you have similar feelings and your body is tensing up, I invite you take a moment to breathe and follow below exercise:
Sit back in your chair
Take a deep inhale and exhale deep to start
Tighten all your muscles for 25 percent of your strength: feet, legs, abdomen, shoulders, arms, neck, tongue, eyes, make fists with your hands
Inhale ...exhale and release your tightened muscles
Tighten all your muscles for 50 percent of your strength: feet, legs, abdomen, shoulders, arms, neck, tongue, eyes, make fists with your hands
Inhale ... exhale and release your tightened muscles
Tighten all your muscles for 75 percent of your strength: feet, legs, abdomen, shoulders, arms, neck, tongue, eyes, make fists with your hands
Inhale ... exhale and release your tightened muscles
Tighten all your muscles for 100 percent of your strength: feet, legs, abdomen, shoulders, arms, neck, tongue, eyes, make fists with your hands
Inhale ... exhale and release your tightened muscles
Take a deep inhale and exhale deep to end

Subject: CHE 1103 Prerequisite Change for Fall 2020
Good afternoon,
Could you please share on the following on the advising listserv?
The prerequisite for CHE 1103 (General Chemistry I) lecture has changed for the fall 2020 term. This change applies to both new and continuing students. To be eligible to take CHE 1103 in fall 2020, students must have one of the following:
* AP Chemistry Score of 3 or higher;
* CHE 1073 with a C- or better;
* or complete the ALEKS Chemistry assessment with a score of 70% or higher: https://testing.utsa.edu/aleks-chemistry/<https://nam03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Ftesting...>
I have provided the course description from the 2020-2022 catalog below. Just to confirm, MAT 1073 with a C- or better will no longer satisfy the prerequisite for CHE 1103 for students planning to take the course in the fall or later terms. Students who do not want to take CHE 1073 should be advised to complete the Chemistry ALEKS assessment. Students can submit a prerequisite override request, but as with any course, the override may not be approved.
CHE 1103. General Chemistry I. (3-0) 3 Credit Hours. (TCCN = CHEM 1311)
Prerequisite: AP Chemistry Score of 3 or greater, or a grade of "C-" or better in CHE 1073<https://nam03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fnext.ca...>, or above 70% mastery in the ALEKS Chemistry assessment. Concurrent enrollment in CHE 1121<https://nam03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fnext.ca...> is recommended. An introduction to descriptive inorganic chemistry and atomic-molecular structure, including such fundamental concepts as the periodic system of elements, valency, chemical bonding, reactions and reaction mechanisms, stoichiometry, equilibria, acids and bases, thermochemistry, molecular-kinetic theory, and states of matter. Credit cannot be earned for both CHE 1103<https://nam03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fnext.ca...> and CHE 1143. Generally offered: Fall, Spring, Summer. Course Fees: LRS1 $15; STSI $15.
Thank you,
Heather

Subject: Faculty CR/NC and Final Grading Updates
Good morning, Deans and Department Chairs.
In light of all the changes to the spring semester, I wanted to send out the following announcements and information concerning final grades for the spring 2020 semester. Please pass this information along to your faculty.
The Registrar’s Office will be sending information to students this week about how to select the Credit/No Credit (CR/NC) option. In that email, we are highlighting that students should already have been notified by their instructors which courses have the CR/NC option.
With the implementation of the Credit/No Credit (CR/NC) option for the Spring semester, we have experienced a couple of issues as to why grading is more complicated this semester:
* Blackboard is the preferred method of grade entry since courses that allow the CR/NC option will be entered with the original letter grade and then converted to CR/NC. This allows the reporting of historical data in case faculty need to see the original grade for prerequisite requirements. ASAP does not currently do that.
* However, Blackboard does not allow the entry of a grade of F due to the requirement to record the last date of attendance as required by Federal law for Financial Aid purposes. ASAP does allow us to record a last date of attendance. This aligns with the process for previous semesters of recording a grade of F.
We are researching additional options, but unfortunately this is our current system. With these issues in mind and for other impacts of the CR/NC option, please re-familiarize yourself with the following:
1. The policies and procedures concerning the CR/NC implementation http://www.utsa.edu/coronavirus/faq/pass-fail-faq.html#how-does-CRNC-pass...<https://nam03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.utsa...>.
1. Our current grading policies and the procedures https://www.utsa.edu/enrollment/facultystaff/registrar/FacultyServicesHel...<https://nam03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.uts...>.
Final Grades
Final grade submission will be consistent with University policy; the only difference is that students may have requested a grade of CR/NC depending upon availability in the course. Faculty can enter final grades for their students on the web (Blackboard preferred) beginning May 7 and must be completed by May 18 at 2:00pm.
Revised Spring 2020 Academic Calendar<https://nam03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.utsa...>
o Last Day of Classes: May 8 (Friday)
o Student Study Days: May 9 & 10
o Final Exams: May 11-15 (No Finals on Saturday or Sunday)
o Deadline to submit year-old "IN" grade changes: May 18. Year-old "IN" grades converted to "F" (undergraduate only) at 5 p.m.
o Final Grade Entry Period: May 7-18, 2 p.m.
o Grades Due: May 18, 2 p.m. (Monday)
The Registrar's Office will begin "rolling" final grades to academic history on May 18 at 2:00pm. From the time that you first enter your grades to the point just prior to when grades are rolled to history, you can change your assigned grades as often as you feel necessary. Grades will not be available for students to view until they are rolled to history. However, once grades are rolled to history they become available for students to view on their ASAP Web site. As this semester has been fraught with changes, we will do one more grade roll on May 19 at 2:00pm. At this point, you will no longer be able to update/change them on the Final Grade Web page. In the event that you need to change a grade that has been rolled, you may submit an Online Grade Change for undergraduate students. For graduate students, you must complete a paper grade change form and submit this form to your Dean's Office.
Thank you so much for working with our office and with the students to mitigate the ramifications of such an unusual semester. If you have additional questions, please reach out for more information and continue to monitor the UTSA COVID-19 website: http://www.utsa.edu/coronavirus/index.html<https://nam03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.utsa...>.

Dear All,
It is just the beginning of the week, but I feel I am already 'being behind with things...' If you feel the same way, I offer you below breathing exercise, which helps to relax and refocus:
We will count while breathing and consciously making our exhales longer than our inhales:
Take a deep inhale and a deep exhale to start
Inhale one - exhale one, two
Inhale one, two - exhale one, two, three
Inhale one, two, three - exhale one, two, three, four
Take a deep inhale and a deep exhale to end
