Hello everyone, Thank you to everyone who volunteered for the Interest Groups. The list of groups and members is below. We were able to balance both the number of people and advising centers in each group fairly well, and everyone was able to get either their first or second choice of groups. We will be reaching out to the facilitators soon to schedule a coordinating meeting, and groups will begin meeting likely around late September. At the all-advisor training on September 3, we will also be discussing ways in which everyone, even those who didn't sign up for a group, can still provide input going forward. At this time, Windows 10 use is not approved for use on UTSA computing assets. We request that use of the Windows 10 operating system on University computing assets ceases immediately. Following discussion with UT System and UT System components, several concerns must be addressed before a decision regarding Windows 10 usage on University assets may be approved. Notable concerns include the Windows 10 data capture capabilities, its approach to updates leveraging a P2P-like system that could cause state resources to serve updates to other Microsoft customers if not properly controlled, and other potential usage issues that are being reviewed by the UT System Office and Department of Information Resources (DIR). We are awaiting a determination from the UT System Office and DIR's discussions with Microsoft. When a determination has been concluded, UTSA and UT System's guidance will be communicated to the community, along with a plan for adoption. * Until that time, please discontinue use of Windows 10 in any capacity on UTSA computing assets. * If Windows 10 OS has been installed on a UTSA computing asset, you must revert back to either Windows 7 or 8.1 operating system. I am addressing it to you four specifically because you advised multiple students to register for Introductory Classical Greek (GRK1114). I have the largest Greek class I have ever had (38; pervious 26) and the largest of any university in the memory of those I have polled informally. This is, for me, a meaningful and powerful accomplishment in my ninth year of building this program. I know that I have the advisors to thank for it to a great extent because I polled the students today and eleven of them mentioned their advisor; nearly as many mentioned the core curriculum. This class is not only remarkable for its size-but it is likely one of the most if not the most economically and culturally diverse Greek classes in the country.
