Subject: RE: Dual Credit GPA Calculations
Good Morning,
For admitted Freshmen, college coursework completed prior to high school graduation are only not included in the calculation of transfer GPA hours. Dual credit hours do not count in completed college hours for the purpose of determining whether a student is a freshman or not (i.e. student has 15 dual credit hours and 24 college credit hours completed after graduating from high school - student is still a freshman transfer). However, their classification will be updated according.
TEA and the Texas Administrative code does not mandate the awarding of an actual grade. For several reasons (i.e. academic standing, drop rule, financial aid, and ect.), the decision was made not to calculate the dual credit grade into the transfer GPA hours which is at our discretion. We are following the mandates by awarding the credit hours.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks!
