Re: Community College Block Removed From DegreeWorks 2020-2022
by advising@lists.it.utsa.edu
Hello All,
Just an FYI that the Community College block has been removed from the 2017-2018 and 2018-2020 catalogs in Degree Works. You will need to click the "Process" button to see the changes. This is the same change that was made for the 2020-2022 and newer catalogs (see the email below from Sept 2022).
This change will help the audit better apply community college classes toward students' degree requirements and will prevent common sharing issues for students still on older catalogs. You can view a count of how many community college hours are potentially counting toward a student's requirements in the Degree block at the top of the page (see below).
If you run into any issues, please email us at DegreeWorks(a)utsa.edu<mailto:DegreeWorks@utsa.edu>. Thank you to the Degree Works team for this update!

Subject: [Advising] Community College Block Removed From DegreeWorks 2020-2022
Good morning,
The community college block has been removed in DegreeWorks for all students in the 2020-2022 catalog. This block was causing issues, which was one of the reasons for removing it. If you ever had a student who had an elective missing and you did an exception to pull it in, only to have another course kicked out, more than likely the CC block was causing that problem. Removing the block also allows DegreeWorks to look at all available community college courses, and then use the ones that the student needs for their degree first, rather than going in order from newest to oldest. This means the need to add XJCO to a course will be greatly reduced.
Even without the block, there is still a restriction in the degree block that only allows a maximum of 66 community college courses.
The count for community college hours is above the degree block.

If, after hitting the Process button, you see any students that still have the CC block or do not have the count above the degree block and they are in 20-22, please send an email to DegreeWorks(a)utsa.edu<mailto:DegreeWorks@utsa.edu>.
