Subject: University Life Awards-Outstanding Academic Advisor
Good morning,
Please join me in congratulating Stephen Chaney as the recipient of the 2015 Student Government University Life Award for Outstanding Academic Advisor. Below is an excerpt from his nomination.
Stephen has consistently done an exemplary job taking care of the students he advises. He actively seeks out the wisdom of those with more experience to affirm that he is providing his students with the most up-to-date information for their degree programs. In addition, he
has an open mind to learn from his own students about the opportunities within UTSA. This sends the message that he respects all members of his community as resources to improve his own advising skills so that he may become a great mentor for the advisors
of the future.
Stephen wholeheartedly listens to his students when they seek his help so as to meet their needs toward achieving what they want to get from their degree plans while studying at UTSA. He also goes above and beyond in providing exceptional service to
students through presenting supplementary sources of information that may be of interest to their degree plans. Stephen seeks out ways to make a difference, whether on or off campus. He volunteered to aid with the Fall 2014 Honors College Research
Symposium. He also supported UTSA and the Honors College through assisting with the Fall 2014 Alamo Colleges Convention where he served as an advisor for future transfer students to the university.
Stephen brings a smile and lightheartedness to those in the Honors College through his respect, care, and encouragement of students and coworkers. He seeks out ways to make a difference for the community.
Congratulations again Stephen!

A few of you have received phone calls asking about your printer names and model numbers. Please be aware that this is a SCAM. It's been going on for years; UTSA is just the latest target. The SCAMMERS somehow use that information and try to charge the office for supplies, like a C.O.D. delivery. Simply say "not interested" and hang up on them - no need to be polite.
Thank you.

Subject: phone call printers?
FYI
I just received a call from a (individual) man who played himself to be working for someone asking about our printers downtown names printer models and etc....
He did not identify himself fully and insisted to continually ask about our printers along the lines of:
Whom am I speaking with.... My boss is right here and he is asking me to ask you to get the information needed for inventory....
I need names of printer, models and etc.... but he would not tell me his company, his name or his bosses name and kept stating his boss is asking and it was needed for inventory....
He got upset because I kept asking who he was working for and if he has spoken with main campus but he would not reply and hung up and stated he was going to send an email....

The catalog draft should be the PDF file titled "philosophyandclassics." It includes the draft info for all degree requirements in this department for the 15-16 catalog, so you have to scroll down to see the Medical Humanities requirements.

Good afternoon everyone,
UTSA's degree in Medical Humanities has now received official approval. The B.A. in Medical Humanities is housed within the Department of Philosophy and Classics in the 2015-16 catalog. The department is currently working with the registrar in order to have the MHU courses listed on the fall 2015 schedule. AHUM is continuing to work with the department on developing the degree checklists. The degree offers two concentrations: Pre-Medicine and Health Careers. The most current draft is attached; we are told it lacks only the 4-year plans.
For University College Students, the code is BA-MHU-UC. For the applicable concentration, use PMED = Pre-Medicine Concentration or HTCR = Health Careers.
For students who have met requirements to leave University College, the code is BA-MHU. The same concentration codes should be used (PMED or HTCR). Please feel free to direct any questions to the Arts & Humanities Advising Center.
In addition, COLFA has a new Museum Studies Minor which is also approved for fall 2015. The minor is not currently housed under a specific department; however, the lead faculty is Dr. Scott Sherer from the department of ART and AHC. For Fall 2015, MSM 3003: Fundamentals of Museum Studies will be taught by Dr. Bryan Howard, Director of Research, Exhibits, and Collections, Institute of Texan Cultures.
MSM 4933: Museum Internship is also open for enrollment.
Thanks,
Jackie
