Rowdy Advisor Social Hour this Friday
by advising@lists.sis.utsa.edu
HELLO EVERYONE!!
Rowdy Advisor Social Hour is back in full swing and we're so excited to start this new year. I really want to explore different places and at the same time keep our old favorites in the mix. We'll be keeping Flying Saucer
every 3rd Friday of the month, but I'm hoping that the 1st Friday events will all be new places.
For those of you that are a little hesitant about joining us, Social Hour is a way to bring the advising community together in a fun environment and just hang out
with no work agenda. I think we've stayed pretty true to that. Personally, it's been great to interact with people that I usually don't get the chance to chat with, much less see during a regular work day
I hope to see everyone come out to at least a few events this year and take a load off.
To start things off, We'll be at the Flying Saucer this coming Friday January 15th, followed by Bar Louie on February 5th ,then back to Flying Saucer on February 19th. Come on out and join us.
Let's have a great year everyone!
[cid:image003.jpg@01D14D3D.61D66780]
Cheers,
Phil
As always, if you have an idea for a new Social Hour place, please let me know.

Importance: High
Barbara and Susan,
We would like to allow students in the( 340-349) TSI score range who might currently be enrolled in MAT 0213, to be allowed to change to the course pairing program consisting of the following:
NCB 0500 and MAT 1023, MAT 1033, or MAT 1073.
The reasons for this are:
1. The enrollment in NCB 0500 has been low and dropped.
2. The NCB 0500 course topics and materials would help in all 3 of the courses listed above.
3. UTSA is supposed to have option of "course pairing" for students from the TSI Texas Administrative Code (Chapter 4 - Subchapter C).
"An institution of higher education must base developmental coursework on research-based best practices that include all of the following components:.....(8) course pairing of developmental education courses/interventions with entry-level freshmen courses, also known as...co-enrollment of developmental education and entry-level freshmen courses as defined in §4.53 (12) of this title..."
The Math Dept. faculty will work on the recruiting from the MAT 0213 classes.
Below you will find Anita's email to have the NCB 0500 opened up to MAT 1023, 1033, and 1073 students.
Thanks so much for your help in making this happen, and letting the advisors know what is going on at this time.
Sorry about the timing as I know everyone is extremely busy at this time!

Health Professions Day 2016
by advising@lists.sis.utsa.edu
Hi All,
As you may know, each Spring the University Health Professions Office hosts Health Professions Day.
This year, the event is on February 25th from 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. in the UC Galleria. We usually have around 75-80 health professions schools, panel discussions about becoming a competitive applicant and lots of opportunities for students to get involved with the schools.
I have attached some marketing materials for your offices. One is a full-page flyer and one is a quarter page "save the date" format. Please help us get the word out about this great event so students can learn more about their desired health profession.
Any questions can be directed to me via e-mail (roxanna.nelson(a)utsa.edu<mailto:roxanna.nelson@utsa.edu>) or by phone (X6804).
Thanks for your support!

Subject: Retrieving TSI Scores
I can't remember if I had already sent this out but as of December 21, 2015, we are now able to retrieve TSI scores taken at a high school. Also, whether the student took the TSI Assessment at a high school/community college/university, the information we now need is First Name, Last Name, Date of Birth and where they tested. If it is a high school, the student will need to provide the high school name and ISD name. Thank you.

Change of Majors: College of Architecture, Construction & Planning CACP
by advising@lists.sis.utsa.edu
Good afternoon. :) Friendly reminder regarding College of Architecture, Construction and Planning.....
Please note that currently admitted students {including incoming freshman admitted under any major} who wish to change their major to Pre-Architecture, Pre-Interior Design or Pre-Construction Science Management are required to submit a Change of Major Application directly to the Department of their choice for consideration.
The enrollment management process of CACP is extensive and as such only the College of Architecture and or CoA Departments are allowed to process Change of Majors.
For Architecture and Interior Design, a "Request for Change of Major and External Transfer Admissions" must be submitted to the Architecture Department at MNT 1.122. For questions regarding the requests, please refer students to the Department at 210.458-3010. **Please note, despite the wording on the current form, requests are accepted on a year round basis with primary consideration taking place annually in June for fall semester entry.**
For Constructions Science Management, a "Major Change Application" must be submitted to the Department at MNT 4.400, contact phone number 210.458.3099. Requests are also accepted on a year round basis with primary consideration being taken at the end of each long semester.
The forms for these major change requests are attached and can also be found on the Academic Advising I Drive at: AcademicAdvising/DT/COA/MajorChangeRequest.
All ARC, IDE and CSM courses (outside of Core options) are major restricted.
While the applications are pending within the Departments, the students under review will still be required to visit with their currently assigned Academic Advisor. Course requirements should be discussed based on the 2015-2016 Catalog as all 3 programs have experienced major overhaul in 2014 and the most recent Catalog outlines College/ Department expectations best.
Flow charts/ degree plans for all 3 majors, 2008-2010 Catalog through 2015-2016 are available on the Academic Advising I Drive at AcademicAdvising/DT/COA/DegreePlans.
Thank you and please let me know if you have any questions. -Jenn
