Subject: Course Registration Lab Instructions Sheet (New Student Orientation)
Importance: High
Hi Dainon and Barbara,
Can you share this information with the advising centers? Orientation had discussed these items during the advisor training, but we were waiting on the live link for the orientation eval survey. Mentioned to the advisors was that this is a had discussed that if the advising center registers them directly in the same area, that they could utilize this guide to make sure the students are completing other items that usually happen in the lab.
Attached is the course registration lab instruction sheet that our OLs use in the JPL computer lab to 1) complete the orientation survey online, 2) complete the rowdy link instructions, 3) register students for their classes, and 4) instruct them what they should print and take with them.
I have also attached a sample of the Rowdy Link cards mentioned in the instructions (note: these cards come to us from Student Activities - Barry McKinney).
Finally, if students want to turn in their nametag plastics, they have a few different options:
1) They can return their nametag plastics to the info table located in the Sombrilla.
2) They can turn them in at the JPL computer lab where we complete course registration.
3) If they hand them to the center, the center can drop them in campus mail to our office.
Thank you!
Warm Regards,
Jackie

Subject: 10 AM Monday 9 June --Severe Weather Outlook
South Central Texas Partners...
...HEADLINE...Scattered showers and thunderstorms from today through midday Tuesday. Slight Chance of severe storms today and into this evening across all of South Central Texas.
...AREA OF CONCERN...The best chance for severe storms will be over central and eastern portions of South Central Texas, mainly east of Highway 83. This includes the Austin and San Antonio metro areas.
...IMPACTS...The most likely severe threat is large hail, with a secondary threat of damaging winds. Locally heavy rains could also cause minor flash flooding of low water crossings and other typical low spots may occur. There is almost no chance of tornadoes. Rainfall will average 1/2 inch or less with a a few spots could get up to 1-2 inches in a short period of time causing minor flooding.
...TIMING...Scattered showers and thunderstorms are moving across the Texas Hill Country this morning and will continue to move eastward throughout today. The best chance for severe storms will be from Noon to 9 pm today.
...CONFIDENCE...Moderate.
...DISCUSSION...A weak cold front will continue to sag south across Central Texas and end up along Interstate 10 by this afternoon. Meanwhile, an upper level trough will arrive about the same time, and when combined with the front and moist, Gulf air already in place, produce showers and thunderstorms. There is enough wind shear and instability for severe storms, with primary threats of damaging winds and large hail. Some hail could be golf ball-size or larger. The trough will pass to the east on Tuesday, with rain chances ending quickly from west to east Tuesday.
You can see the latest forecasts and watches/warnings/advisories by going to the Austin-San Antonio National Weather Service website at www.weather.gov/austin<http://www.weather.gov/austin>

Jackie,
Several History classes for the Fall currently have low enrollment and are at risk of being cancelled unless they gain more students over the next several weeks. I would appreciate anything you can do to promote these classes through the Advising office. As we develop flyers for these classes, I will forward them to you as well. And if you have any other ideas on how to boost enrollment for these classes, please let me know.
Best,
GLM

Clarification
by advising@lists.sis.utsa.edu
Good afternoon,
I hope everyone is doing well and congratulations on finishing your first set of Orientation advising appointments. I want to provide a few clarification points with regards to dual credit coursework and post admission transcripts just to be sure everyone is on the same page.
? Dual credit coursework, credit the student earned at a community college while in high school, is not evaluated until UTSA receives the students official final high school transcript confirming the students graduation date and their complete exit level TAKS scores. Until the receipt of that final high school transcript is received, admissions will flag the dual credit transcript to be evaluated. If the student has credit for a course that is a prerequisite you can make the assumption that once the final high school transcript is received the student credit will be awarded and set the prerequisite override (Q1) so the student can register for appropriate fall courses (e.g. Student has dual credit for ENGL 1301 {WRC 1013}, then the student should register for WRC 1023 and AIS 1403 for the fall and the prerequisite override be set for WRC 1023)
? The evaluation of transfer coursework subsequent to admission is handled by Suzanne Stokes in the Office of Undergraduate Studies Support and Technology Services
I appreciate everyone's hard work and commitment to serving their students.
