Advisor Contact Info in ASAP
by advising@lists.sis.utsa.edu
Students are now able to look up their assigned advisors in ASAP. To see their advisor, they need to log into ASAP, click on the Student Services tab, then Advisor Contact Information at the bottom of the page. They will then be prompted to select a term, and then they will click on the List Advisors button. They will see their advisor's name and email address, name of the center, phone number of the center, and an indicator of whether that is their primary advisor.

by advising@lists.sis.utsa.edu
We're moving happy...SOCIAL HOUR to Wednesday's for the summer. In fact, we're looking at doing it twice a month now. Please join us as we will be at the Flying Saucer this Wednesday June 4th. Let's take a load off as we celebrate one orientation down and "discuss" all the changes we've been through. Or not, we'll just see where the night takes us. Either way, I hope to see everyone there.
Please RSVP Thanks!!

FYI
This morning, most of the Online Learning staff except student workers were unable to access Blackboard Learn using their myUTSA ID credentials. There may be some more folks who may be unable to access Blackboard as their accounts have been made inactive.
We have notified ADS (Application Development Services) about this issue and OIT Connect is aware of this to forward such tickets to ADS.
I will update you once this issue has been resolved.
Thank You,

Advising reminders for summer orientation regarding health professions students.....
by advising@lists.sis.utsa.edu
Good Morning UTSA Advising Community,
This email is a friendly reminder for the advising community as we approach kicking- off UTSA summer orientation. As a new approach, the UHPO will be supporting UTSA students at orientation in three ways.
Every orientation week (with the exception of the week of June 23-25th due to the NAAHP national conference) incoming orientation students will have three ways to interface with our office during their 3-day orientation:
* Monday: UHPO will have an information table at the UTSA's Roadrunner Roundup New Student Orientation Fall 2014 Information Fair in the Galleria, UC North
* Tuesday: We will host an open 45 minute "Breakout Session" presentation about UHPO and important preliminary information regarding the planning, tips, and how to become a competitive applicant.
If during any of your interactions with students at orientation you identify a student considering and/or pursuing a health professions interest, please encourage them to attend the UHPO Tuesday Breakout session. It is listed in the their orientation agenda/folders (University Health Professions Office: A UTSA Roadmap to Health Professions.)
* Walk-in Wednesday: Our office will be hosting "Walk-in Wednesdays" in the UHPO office during each orientation week (with the exception of June 25th). We will be reminding health profession interested students on Monday and Tuesday of this opportunity at our table and break-out session.
As agreed upon, we will be reminding ALL orientation students that they MUST attend their pre-scheduled major orientation advising appointment and are not allowed to be seeing a UHPO advisor during this appointment time. Orientation students are welcome to see a UHPO advisor in our office before/after their major advising orientation session. We are located in the MS Building 3.02.10. If a student is unable to see us on that Wednesday, they are welcome to visit with us at a later time (if needed) via our other listed summer walk-in hours.
The UHPO is excited about our upcoming participation in the UTSA New Student Orientation. Please share this information with students and encourage them to visit the UHPO to meet with a health professions advisor or set up an appointment. I have attached a flyer with information refer them to our offices and services this summer orientation.
On a related note and update, the UHPO has been working diligently to redesign and update all UHPO literature/information sheets on our website and new handouts. We are in the 12th hour of the revision phase and hope to have these officially released early this summer. For the time being, if you during your advising sessions and/or orientation appointments you have students asking specific questions regarding pre-requisites for a health profession, please refer them to come and see us on the orientation Walk-in Wednesdays and/or to contact us on how we can best assist them.
In addition, we are also finalizing the new "early admission nursing program" with the UTHCSA School of Nursing. We will share this new information and field any questions throughout the summer and at orientation.
The contract has not been officially "signed" but all language has been pre-approved by each institution. We are at the phase of arranging a final meeting for UTSA/UTHSCSA Dean's for their final review and signature.
Many thanks to the advising community for all of your support and referrals for our health professions interested students. As always, do not hesitate to contact myself and/or our office for any additional questions. Take care....
