Good afternoon, Dummy courses have been created for core, subject specific courses and electives. As you are working on your plans, feel free to use the dummy courses as placeholders. CORE Below are tables that show you the core requirement and the dummy course that was created for that requirement: 10-12 & 12-14 Catalogs For all degrees: Core Course Mathematics C020 XXX3 Natural Sciences C030 XXX3 Literature C040 XXX3 Visual and Performing Arts C050 XXX3 United States History and Diversity C060 XXX3 Introduction to American Politics C070 XXX3 Social and Behavioral Science C080 XXX3 World Society and Issues C090 XXX3 14-15 & 15-16 Catalogs For all degrees: Core Course Mathematics C020 XXX3 Life and Physical Sciences C030 XXX3 Language, Philosophy and Culture C040 XXX3 Creative Arts C050 XXX3 American History C060 XXX3 Introduction to American Politics C070 XXX3 Social and Behavioral Science C080 XXX3 Component Area Option C090 XXX3 For example, if a student needs to take a core math, but it doesn't matter which one, you can type in C020 XXX3 on their plan, and that indicates that the student needs to take a core math. You can include a note saying something about them choosing from any core math class. [cid:image002.jpg@01D1BB5B.251B4FE0] SUBJECT SPECIFIC We have also created subject specific dummy courses as well. You can differentiate between upper and lower division courses as well, for many subjects. For example, if a student needs to take an upper-division Criminal Justice course, you can type in CRJ 4XX3 as the course. If it could be lower or upper division, you could type in CRJ XXX3. The format for subject specific dummy courses is SUB 4XX3 for upper-division and SUB XXX3 for upper or lower. We went through the catalog and created courses based on what was needed for degree plans. If you want to know if a course was created, you can utilize the course search function by selecting the magnifying glass after adding a blank course row in the plan, then typing in the course you want to search. If there is a subject that does not have a dummy course, and you feel it needs one, please let me know. Some degrees require courses from within a college (COB, COS and COLFA), and dummy courses have been created for them as well: COB XXX3 COS XXX3 & COS 4XX3 CLFA XXX3 & CLFA 4XX3 Electives Free elective dummy courses have been created. They are listed below: ELEC 4XX3 ELEC XXX3 ELEC 4XX2 ELEC XXX2 ELEC 4XX1 ELEC XXX1 When you enter in a core or elective placeholder, they will fall in to the plan in the audit view where appropriate. Below, you can see the three core dummy courses that were added to the plan, mark those requirements in yellow in the Audit View in the plan. Printing Notes View in Planner

It seems that a recent update of Firefox is causing this issue. We will contact OIT and try and find a resolution. In the interim, use Chrome when using Degree Works, as the notes will print when using that browser. If you do not have it on your computer, you can download it from here: https://www.google.com/chrome/browser/desktop/index.html. If you are unable to download it, contact OIT and they can download it for you. Note: You will probably have a pop-up blocker set up in Chrome and will need to allow pop-ups from Degree Works when you first try to print in that browser. - [cid:image001.png@01D1B4DF.A0C9C720] When you click on the print button, you will see an X in the top right corner [cid:image003.jpg@01D1B4DF.A0C9C720] - Click on the X and select the "Always allow pop-ups from ..." option and click on 'Done'. A Heritage speaker is defined as: "A student who is raised in a home where non-English language is spoken, who speaks or merely understands the heritage language. UHPO Orientation Information- Please Read

Happy Friday to All from the UHPO! Just a couple of notes about UHPO's role at Orientation this year: 1. The main UHPO session will be on Mondays at 1 p.m. in the Denman Room BEFORE the official orientation check-in. For those reaching out to your students, will you send the flyer in this email entitled "Orientation Meeting Invite" to your students? It gives the session time/details. We are also reaching out but sometimes it means more coming from you all. I am hoping to get as many of the students seen during the 1 p.m. meeting on Monday as possible. 2. I have attached the quarter page flyer for the suggested health professions freshman fall schedule as well. It's a two-sided PDF. One side is nursing and related HPs (listed on the flyer). The other side is medical, dental and all other related HPs (also listed on the flyer). Print however you choose and hand them out to any and all students who might need them. We will also have these at our sessions but I am hopeful that this year you all can help us advocate for this schedule as much as possible. With the increased number of students at orientation each week, we simply cannot meet with everyone. 3. For students interested in special programs (FANS, JAMP, DEAP), they will still have to meet with us. These meetings will be group sessions and students can sign up at either our UHPO Main Session on Monday or during the information fair on Tuesday at the UHPO table. 4. Within the next few days, I will be sending a slide to be included in the group advising session that generally talks about UHPO's services, location, etc. 5. UHPO will be having two additional group sessions at Orientation. They will be held Tuesday and Wednesday at 10:45 a.m. However, the room we have is INCREDIBLY small (Chicano-Cultural Room, seats 25). So, our hope is that only students who are absolutely unable to meet with us on Mondays come to these sessions. Please feel free to contact me with any questions about Orientation or UHPO in general.
