Dr. Wyatt attended the UT System Student Success Affinity Group Launch in early February and has provide the following update:
The UT System has highlighted three pillars that research identifies as significant contributors to student success: Advising, Finances, and Belonging. Representatives from each UT System institution were identified to serve on an Affinity Group for each pillar area. Dr. Wyatt will serve on the Advising Affinity Group for UTSA.
During the February meeting, each representative had the opportunity to describe the current work taking place on their campuses with regard to advising. I am so pleased to let you all know that UTSA is a pioneer with regard to our proactive, student-centered, and research-based approaches to advising. Compared to our sister institutions, we are leading the way in the use of advising technologies such as degree maps and SSC Campus as well as our use of proactive campaigns and caseload management strategies. After our meeting, many institutions were asking for more information about the work that you all are doing so that they may begin to replicate our approaches!
Ø On March 6, 2017 the following information was shared by Dr. Mauli Agrawal during the Provost's staff council meeting:
Since recently joining the UTSA Campus, Dr. Pedro Reyes, President Ad Interim, has met with several students to talk about UTSA in general. During those meetings, many students indicated that they loved the new advising initiatives and the direction advising was moving toward. Dr. Reyes told Dr. Agrawal that he was impressed with the students' positive feedback on advising. Others in the Provost's staff council meeting also indicated that they had received compliments about advising's recent initiatives. We have momentum and are moving in a great direction! Keep up the fantastic work!
Congratulations to all of you for your great work!
