UTSA researcher studies how individuals use technology to engage with their cultures<http://education.utsa.edu/news/article/utsa_researcher_studies_how_indivi...>
As the nation continues to get more diverse, it’s common for immigrant populations in the United States to identify with two or more cultures at the same time. In a new article published in Lingua, M. Sidury Christiansen argues for a redefinition of how we see transnationalism or the movement of people, ideas and capital across national borders.

COEHDTechTip
Increase computer startup speed
brought to you by Technology Support Services<http://education.utsa.edu/faculty/technology_support_services/>
Did you know you can reduce the number of programs running at startup? If your PC is taking too long to boot, it's probably because you have far too many programs running at startup. It's easy to reduce these and it will make your PC launch noticeably faster. Make sure you research what you are turning off, as some processes might be needed by third party programs you have installed.
• Windows: Open the task manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) and head to the startup tab to configure what programs you want to launch with your system.
• Windows 7 and prior: Open run (Windows key + R) and enter msconfig to access a window with a similar startup section.
• MAC OS: Go to System Preferences > Users & Groups > Select your user and click on the Login Items tab. You can remove or hide startup applications from here.

Subject: [Coehd] DTC Dean's office
Dear Colleagues,
Sara Aghai, our DTC Dean's office admin/post award staff has accepted a position at Southwest Research Institute. We wish her all the best as she transitions to this next professional experience and thank her for her outstanding work, collegiality, and willingness to jump in and work with grants and our fiscal team. Sara will be missed!
Currently, we are working with HR on a plan to create a shared business center model at the college level as well as some other adjustments to how we function at that level. Since the DTC office is part of that effort, we will currently look for temporary coverage of the office as we work through the organizational structure at the college level.
I will reiterate what I have asked Department Chairs to communicate to their staff: Our current efforts in the development of an efficient and institutionally aligned way of sharing business services at the college level does not affect department staffing. As we make the transition, we expect to see department staff able to take on broader and deeper roles in student and faculty support which will aid in our student and faculty success efforts.
Best,
Margo
