Just a reminder that tomorrow, Tuesday, October 1st, is the 2013 Kick-Off for the State Employee Charitable Campaign. UTSA President Ricardo Romo will get the campaign started and recognize our past and future efforts. Plus, there will be ice cream and prizes-including tickets to an upcoming Roadrunner Football Game-so be sure to bring a friend.

Dear Sponsored Projects Directors/Research Officials,
The Coordinating Board posted a new Request for Application (RFA) for the Norman Hackerman Advanced Research Program (NHARP) on its website at http://www.THECB.state.tx.us/NHARP. NHARP is funded with an appropriation of $1,000,000 for the 2014-2015 biennium. Some significant program components are listed below:
* Maximum award is $100,000 for the two-year grant period
* Targeted research areas are basic research in:
1. Biomedicine
2. Energy and the Environment
* There are no limits on the number of pre-proposals that institutions may submit. If the statewide number of pre-proposals exceeds 150, then institutions will be asked to select a smaller number of pre-proposals submitted to go forward to review. The smaller number will be based on a proportional share of statewide pre-proposal submissions
* Only "Early Career Investigators" may submit a proposal
* Principal investigators are limited to one submission
* Notice of intent and pre-proposal are required for each proposal
* Budget cannot include faculty summer salaries
An "Early Career Investigator" is defined as a non-tenured, tenure track faculty member or a research professional (not including post-doctoral students, research assistants/associates, or instructors) from an eligible institution who has been employed at the institution in that capacity for not less than two years and not more than five years, as of the pre-proposal submission date.
LAST DAY FOR NOTICE OF INTENT: October 31, 2013, 5:00 PM C.T.
PRE-PROPOSAL SUBMISSION DEADLINE: October 31, 2013, 5:00 PM C.T.

Leadership NOW! is a free, one-day conference for UTSA students. The conference focuses on developing leadership skills, providing an open dialogue to address tough issues that leaders face, and offering a diverse spectrum of workshops centered around the theme Finding Your Voice. Sharing Your Vision.
Leadership NOW! will include breakout sessions, a keynote speaker, and opportunities to network with fellow attendees.
Leadership NOW! invites UTSA students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members to submit program proposals for the conference. We are looking for programs with exciting new topics that challenge traditional leadership workshop styles and content. Program proposals can be submitted by clicking here<http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/LSKYVJ7>.
Leadership NOW! program proposals are due Friday, November 15, 2013. Applicants will be notified of their status by December 6, 2013.
We are looking for great session presentations regarding all leadership levels. When submitting your session proposal, you will have the opportunity to select the target audience leadership level. Topics can include, but are not limited to, values congruence in leadership, ethics, program planning, evaluating the organization/preparing summaries/reports for recognition, time management, how to take leadership skills to the job world, professionalism, conflict management, risk management/reduction, working with others...really the list is endless! We are looking to include your session within the following areas of student learning: responsibility, engaged citizenship, active leader, critical thinking, and healthy and balanced living. Sessions will be 50 minutes in length.
I hope you consider submitting a session proposal for our upcoming conference and that you will also share this with others you may know who may have an excellent topic to share for student leadership development!

Call for papers
The main goal of International Teacher Education Conference is to provide a multinational platform where the latest trends in education can be presented and discussed in a friendly environment with the aim to learn from each other. Prospective presenters are encouraged to submit proposals for papers and posters/demonstrations that offer new research or theoretical contributions. Presentations should be in Turkish, English and Arabic and should address both theoretical issues and new research findings.
Furthermore if the presenter is unable to attend the oral presentation, video presentations are available. For further information on how to submit, please refer to the Paper Submission section on our website. For paper guidelines, please refer to the Paper Guidelines section.
ITEC 2014 conference will take place on February 5-7, 2014 at the Holiday Inn Sharjah Hotel, Sharjah, United Arab Emirates..
All full papers (in all languages) will be published in an online proceedings book on ITEC web site after the conference.
We would like to invite you to share your experience and your papers with academicians and professionals.
Conference Languages
The official languages of the conference are English and Turkish. Proposals can be sent and be presented in either language. But all submission process will be done in English. Please, submit your proposal according to the following presentation category descriptions in paper guidelines.
