Historians say the latest Mexican American history textbook being considered by the Texas Board of Education is riddled with errors. The chorus of educators united Monday to demand that the book for Texas high school students be rejected. Lilliana Saldaña, an associate professor of Mexican American Studies at the University of Texas at San Antonio, said the errors begin as soon as you open the book. “In the first chapter we found at least three to four severe errors — on each page.”
UTSA Libraries make strides in addressing the rising cost of textbooks<http://www.utsa.edu/today/2016/07/costofbooks.html>
by RYAN SCHOENSEE - UTSA TODAY | Pub: 07/19
It’s no secret that the escalating cost of textbooks has a significant impact on students and their ability to succeed in their classes. According to the College Board, students should budget between $1,200 to $1,400 per year for textbooks and supplies. This additional cost not only impacts students’ ability to attend college, but also their ability to continue and complete coursework.

Educators deserve a break. That's just as true for teachers as it is for Lin-Manuel Miranda, the creator and star of "Hamilton." You've heard of it, right? The smash Broadway hit with a talented and diverse cast spitting rhymes about our country's Founding Fathers that's been fetching an average of $1,000 per ticket?

A growing number of schools and nonprofit groups in California are offering lower-income and immigrant students the opportunity to take college tours so they can get a peek at college life. One such program, College Match, has flown about 200 high-achieving, low-income students from California to the East Coast and Midwest to visit colleges.
