The quality of the program depends on researchers like you who help identify the most meritorious proposals and the proposals that will be of interest to the Division C audience. Why sign up to review? In the past, reviewers have said that this process helps them to keep abreast of the newest ideas and research, provides insight into the review process to gauge what the community expects of an AERA proposal, and plays an important role in advancing the field. You do not need to be a member of AERA to serve as a reviewer, you just need to have/create an account. 2. Thank you very much for your help on this vital Division C program activity! ******* [3] AERA Grants Program Seeks Proposals Supported by the National Science Foundation (NSF), the AERA-NSF Grants Program emphasizes the advanced statistical analysis of data sets from the U.S. Department of Education’s National Center for Education Statistics, NSF, and other federal agencies. The program also supports studies using large-scale international data systems (e.g., PISA, PIRLS, or TIMMS) that benefit from U.S. federal government support. In addition, statewide longitudinal administrative data systems enhanced through federal grants are also eligible for consideration. Proposals are encouraged from a variety of disciplines, such as, but not limited to, education, sociology, economics, psychology, demography, statistics, and psychometrics. AERA Grants Program Dissertation Grants: AERA provides dissertation funding for advanced doctoral students to undertake doctoral dissertations using data from the large-scale data sets. The award provides professional development, training, and networking opportunities for students. Awards are for one-year, for an amount of up to $25,000. Deadline: Wednesday, May 15, 2019. This Advanced Methods Institute (AMI), entitled, “In Support of Cultural Sustainable Research and Researchers,” will be held daily, from 8:30 am – 4:30 pm, on the campus of Ohio State at the Blackwell Inn and Conference Center, Columbus, Ohio. The goal of this event is to provide an opportunity for an open and challenging discussion of the ways in which research methods impact the cultural relevance and sustainability of scholarly research in the social-behavioral sciences. Faculty, graduate students, and researchers in the social sciences with interest in cultural sustainability can attend for one to four days. Each day of the institute features two workshops conducted by expert researchers. Workshops will build attendees’ skills, highlight issues relevant to research among diverse populations, and employ examples from data sets that address issues which are culturally relevant. The graduate assistantship will be for 10- 19 hours per week beginning May 2019 through August 31, 2019. Extension of the position to Fall 2019 is possible, contingent on funding. Description of Job Duties Work with team of faculty and administrators to explore program and policy options associated with innovative EC-12 education in Texas. Experience with library searches, archival research, finding and reviewing educational policy documents, and writing briefs is preferred. Additional preferred qualifications include good interpersonal and organizational skills; responsible, flexible and able to maintain a professional attitude. Qualifications Applicant must be current graduate student in the College of Education and Human Development. Candidates must maintain enrollment in at least three hours of graduate course during the summer. Candidates must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 in graduate work, or if entering the program, a 3.0 GPA in the last 60 hours of undergraduate work. Successful experience in working with staff and students in a helping relationship is desirable; experience in use of computers is required. Salary Candidates may be paid $14.00/ hour.
