Dear Colleagues,
Please find attached the invitation to the COEHD Social at AERA. We hope to toast and recognize our colleagues in Philadelphia!
To ensure that we can hold tables, it would be helpful if you could RSVP (but not required) to either one of us.
Please encourage your graduate students to join the group and you are welcome to bring friends.
See you in Philly! Safe travels!

Documentary Screenings
by Byron Spencer
I was contacted by Student Activities (Downtown) to see if there is any interest in COEHD to have documentaries screened. If I understand correctly, student services will arrange to order documentaries and screen them at the downtown location as a service to students and serve as a tool for instructors. If you have any interest in this program or have suggestions as to documentaries to be shown please email me so that I may start the ball rolling. You may also contact:

Jimmy Carter's new book and latest Chronicle of Higher Education article
by Betty Merchant
Greetings Everyone--
Although I'm sure that most if not all of you are already aware of the following two things, I want to provide this information to you:
1) I've now listened to two interviews with former President Jimmy Carter regarding his new book, and I believe that this is something we all need to be aware of, as we prepare seducators, counselors, and health professional. The book is entitled: A Call to Action: Women, Religion, Violence and Power"
2) The latest issue of the Chronicle of Higher Education leads with the front page article: "New Gender Gap in Scholarship: Men are 64% more likely than women to cite their own research""
Obviously, there's still so much to be done, and we should be part of the solution.
Thanks for all that you do to address these issues in your classes and among your colleagues, friends neighbors, legislators, and so many more....
Betty
