Urban Education Institute Research Seed Funds 2019 Research Grants Call for Proposals<http://education.utsa.edu/awards_announcements/article/urban_education_in...> The Urban Education Institute (UEI) is soliciting proposals for applied research projects aimed at improving the share of San Antonio students pursuing and completing a postsecondary education. Our goal is to increase the number of transdisciplinary research teams focused on addressing education issues relevant to San Antonio’s community of education stakeholders including educators, students, and policymakers. UEI Research Seed Funds realizes this goal by supporting activities necessary to advance an early stage of a research project that can develop into a competitive research proposal to an external funding organization within a year of the completion of the UEI Research Seed Fund period. The UEI Research Seed Fund period is no more than a year. This year the maximum to be awarded to selected proposals equals $10,000 per award. Award recipients agree to use the Institute as their administrative department for proposed research projects and future grant awards related to their Institute-supported research as a way of sustaining this seed-funding program. Researchers who have the Institute administer their grants receive administrative support such as budgeting, accounting, and purchasing services. They also receive part of the in-direct costs that is normally dedicated to a department. It is never too early to bring us your ideas for a proposal. We can provide you feedback and advice for developing your ideas into stronger proposals. Proposals should be no longer than five pages and include an abstract. Cardboard Kids child abuse prevention campaign.

Dear COEHD, For the first time this year, UTSA is serving as an official distribution site for the city-wide Cardboard Kids<https://nam03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.car...> child abuse prevention campaign. Peggy Eighmy, who serves on the Board of Directors for ChildSafe (the organization behind Cardboard Kids) was instrumental in connecting UTSA to this important effort. The Student Center for Community Engagement & Inclusion has graciously taken on coordination of UTSA's Cardboard Kids campaign, which will culminate in a campus-wide "reveal day" and contest on April 4th. We want to show them as much support as possible from the leadership level, and I'm writing today to ask for your participation in getting your areas involved in the effort.
