The Bessie Pearce Recruitment Grant- DELTA KAPPA GAMMA Society International
Beta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, an honorary society for women educators, offers grants to one or more outstanding women who plan to become classroom teachers.
Applicants must be female, Bexar County residents for at least a year; full time undergraduate students, with a minimum course load of twelve (12) hours, 3.0 cumulative GPA and plan to enter the field of education. The award is at least $300. The application deadline is midnight, January 20, 2014.

This e-mail is to notify the research community of a recently released funding opportunity from the Department of Defense, Defense Medical Research and Development Program (DMRDP), Clinical and Rehabilitative Medicine Research Program (CRMRP) and Joint Program Committee 8 (JPC-8).

Neurosensory Research Award: Supports both applied (preclinical) research and clinical trials within specific focus areas of pain management, hearing loss/dysfunction, balance disorders and/or tinnitus. Applications focused on traumatic brain injury (TBI) are highly encouraged.
Neuromusculoskeletal Injuries Research Award: Supports preclinical research and clinical trials on the functional utility of assistive devices related to the human-device interface, secondary health effects following injury, and optimizing rehabilitation and device prescription for patients with severe extremity trauma.
Regenerative Medicine Clinical Trial Award: Supports clinical trials focused on extremity regeneration, craniomaxillofacial regeneration, vascularized composite allografts, and/or genitourinary/lower abdomen reconstruction.
Vision Research Program Hypothesis Development Award: Supports conceptually innovative, high-risk/high-reward research that could ultimately lead to critical discoveries or major advancements that will drive the field of vision research forward.
Vision Research Program Translational Research Award: Supports translational research that will accelerate the movement of promising ideas in vision research into clinical applications.

The Nancy Larson Foundation Scholarship in Elementary Education for Juniors, Seniors and Graduate Students

New external scholarship opportunity in the COEHD.
The Nancy Larson Foundation, Inc. is proud to sponsor scholarships for college students studying to become elementary school teachers. Juniors, seniors and graduate students in the COEHD who have declared an elementary education major are invited to submit a personal story about what three traits they believe they have that will make them an excellent teacher. Applicants will also be asked to list community service activities and experiences they have had working with children. Re: [Coehd] State Employee Charitable Campaign (SECC)

I write to all of you in support of the SECC. In an email earlier today, Liliana reported that the current COEHD participation rate in this Charitable Campaign is only 26%.
We in the college have always prided ourselves on our commitment to equity, to social justice, and to meaningful community outreach and engagement. Most if not all of us, already donate to other charities, but we know that especially in these difficult economic times, all charities are hard-pressed to do more with considerably less.
I've always felt that we lead a privileged life in academia-we enjoy flexible time, good benefits, an comfortable and beautiful surroundings. We've worked hard to get these jobs, but not everyone who works hard gets to enjoy the standard of living that we do, regardless of our position in the university.
I understand that the minimum contribution that's necessary on an individual level is $3-it seems so insignificant, but I also realize that every little bit adds up.
There is a huge range of organizations to choose from, and many of these have benefitted us directly or those whom we know. I'd be surprised if there is even one person in the COEHD whose life hasn't been touched by one or more of these charities.
I'm asking you to contribute whatever you're able to, in recognition of the need that exists in today's world, and in appreciation of the gifts we ourselves have been given.
Thank you for your generosity-it's this spirit that defines who we are and what we do in our profession.

The latest campaign report is in, and so far 80 (out of 304) in the College of Education and Human Development have made a gift, for a participation rate of 26.3%. Let's raise the momentum and strive to reach 100% for our college!
The individual COEHD downtown offices below have reached 100% or are very close! Way to go DT!!! :)

We still have 8 days to reach 100% for COEHD as a whole!!!

The donation amount can be as small as $3.00, but it is our participation that counts, you can even choose payroll deduction!
