Resources for UTSA & UT Health San Antonio Integration

Hello COEHD Faculty and Staff,
On Monday, September 1, UTSA and The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio will officially merge to become UT San Antonio. In preparation for this historic event, I wanted to share some helpful resources.
The integration website is https://utsanantoniotogether.org. This is a great hub that features details about the integration, task force updates, news, FAQs, employee resources and the opportunity to provide feedback.
The Employee Resources<https://utsanantoniotogether.org/resources/employee-resources/> repository will provide you with with access to items including brand and editorial guidelines and toolkits, foundational messaging, quick start guides and more. The Brand Toolkit specifically will give you access to logos, email signature templates, presentation templates, virtual backgrounds and more. To access these resources, you will login using your UTSA credentials.
For the time being only the regental logo is available, in the months to come official college, department, and sub-brand logos will be made available. Swag guidelines are available in the Employee Resource Files that provide information on ordering, logo guidelines, vendors and purchasing, and a review and approval process.
Merger celebration events<https://utsanantoniotogether.org/events/#uthsa> continue into next week and we encourage you to attend to learn more about the new brand and pick up new swag.
During our College Wide Kick Off meeting on Friday, September 5, Provost Heather Shipley will be joining us to discuss the merger and help address any questions you may have.

Encourage Your Students to Attend TexLER 2025 – Extra Credit Opportunity

Dear Colleagues,
We are excited to invite you and your students to attend the upcoming Texas Language Education Research (TexLER) Conference. This year’s conference, themed “Reclaiming Community Narratives in the 21st Century,” will bring together scholars, educators, and students to explore critical issues in language, literacy, and education.
As you know, TexLER has a long-standing tradition of engaging our undergraduate and graduate students in meaningful academic and professional development opportunities. Many professors in past years have generously offered extra credit to their students who attend conference sessions, keynote addresses, or workshops. This practice not only supports student participation but also encourages them to experience scholarship-in-action, network with peers and faculty, and connect course learning to broader conversations in our field.
We encourage you to consider offering extra credit again this year as part of your course. Conference attendance can be easily documented through session sign-ins, conference programs, or student reflections, and it provides a unique way for students to deepen their academic engagement.

NSF opportunity

Dear COEHD,
I hope everyone’s semester is off to a great start! I wanted to make you aware of a “new” NSF opportunity, NSF STEM K-12. This new encompasses other opportunities including DRK-12, CSforAll, AISL, and TD. As such, if you would have applied to one of those programs (or have an old proposal that you could re-submit), this would be a great opportunity. It seems broad and the deadline is rolling, so please reach out if you have any interest.
Synopsis of Program:
The NSF STEM K-12 program in the Division of Research on Learning in Formal and Informal Settings (DRL) in the Directorate for STEM Education (EDU) supports fundamental, applied, and translational research that advances STEM teaching and learning and improves understanding of education across the human lifespan and a range of formal and informal settings.

We invite you to submit a proposal to present at our 26th Annual Texas Language Education Research (TexLER) Conference, which will have in-person and pre-recorded sessions. The theme of this year's TexLER 2025 Conference is, "Reclaiming Community Narratives in the 21st Century." This theme directly connects with your interests and scholarship, and I know you would make a wonderful contribution to our community if you chose to present. Also, check out our Keynote speakers in the attached flyer. We are so proud to have them.
We invite faculty, staff, and students to submit proposals for presentations that align with this year's theme, and any other conference research strands that can be found on our website and below. Whether you have innovative research to share, pedagogical practices to discuss, or community-engaged projects to showcase, this conference provides an excellent platform to exchange ideas and foster collaboration. Please see attached flyers for Keynote information.
We welcome submissions that address (but are not limited to) the following topics:
* Language ideologies and their influence on educational policy and classroom practice
* Histories and legacies of linguistic marginalization
* Storytelling, oral traditions, and multimodal literacies in community contexts
* Archival resistance and community-based counter-histories
* Language and literacy education as a site of critical consciousness and transformation
* Ethnographic, critical, or participatory approaches to documenting community narratives
* The role of educators and researchers in co-constructing inclusive educational futures
Presentations may take the form of research papers, roundtable discussions, creative multimedia storytelling, pedagogical reflections, or community-engaged projects.

Windows 11 at UTSA: COEHD computers must be upgraded

Dear COEHD,
As you may already know, Microsoft has elected to end support and stop updating Windows 10 in the next 3 months. After this happens, it will make Windows 10 untenable in the UTSA environment; therefore, all Windows computers must be upgraded to Windows 11.
You have two options available for upgrading your devices.
1. Technician-Conducted Upgrade
* Drop off your laptop & power cable with COEHDIT in MB0.328 or FS3.418. We will confirm drop-off and pickup by email.
1. Self-Service Upgrade

In Windows Search, type “Software Center”• click App, select Operating Systems • Windows 11 - Upgrade
This process will take a minimum of 4hours, then the device will need to report to the UTSA network. If you need assistance in getting started or want to drop off your device, schedule a bookings appointment<https://outlook.office365.com/book/COEHDIT1@utsacloud.onmicrosoft.com/s/F...> or contact us at COEHDIT(a)utsa.edu
Please keep in mind, your personal Windows devices will also need to be upgraded. If left on Windows 10, hackers will be able to steal your data. Let us help you upgrade!

Dear Colleague,
UTS is pleased to announce the impending upgrade of all UTSA PCs from Windows 10 to the Windows 11 operating system. As you may already be aware, Microsoft has elected to end support and stop updating Windows 10 in the coming year. This will make Windows 10 untenable in the UTSA environment. If you have a UTSA-issued PC, it will need to be upgraded.
All devices must be upgraded by the end of October 2025. Users may elect to begin the upgrade process as early as today.
What to expect:
UTS is committed to making this transition as seamless as possible. Most users will have the option to apply the upgrade to their own UTSA-issued machines at a time and place that is most convenient for them. If you prefer to have a technician complete the upgrade for you, or if your machine cannot support a self-service upgrade, machines can be upgraded at the Tech Café by appointment.
