Re: Happy Retirement, Mike!!!

Dr. Vriesenga
Your expertise and dedication will certainly be missed. I thoroughly concur that head banging on bureaucratic walls is not recommended. I gave that up seven years ago and never regretted my decision. I hope you enjoy every minute of your retirement Mike. You have earned it! All the best! It has been a pleasure working with you!

Dear COEHD community:
It is with mixed emotions to announce our Director for Assessment and Program Accountability, Dr. Michael Vriesenga, will be retiring from his role effective August 31. Dr. Vriesenga has served COEHD for 6 years. During which time he monitored all affairs relative to TEA accreditation and compliance in addition to providing faculty and students valuable assistance and support. We will miss Michael’s analytical skill and depth of knowledge and awareness of legislation and the policy environment. Please join me in congratulating Dr. Vriesenga and wishing him well on the next chapter of his journey.

San Antonio Independent School District’s partnership with UTSA was prominently featured at the British Educational Leadership, Management and Administration Society (BELMAS), an international conference in Glasgow, Scotland, on July 7. “This recognition not only celebrates our community's collaborative efforts but also showcases how our city is leading the way in educational excellence on a global stage,” Dr. Juanita Santos, director of the Dual Language Community Lab Schools Partnership. “Universities from around the world expressed keen interest in replicating this model in their own regions, underscoring the pioneering work being done right here in San Antonio. This achievement not only elevates our school district to a global platform but also honors the tireless commitment of our principals and educators who strive to enrich the lives of our students every single day. Together, we continue to inspire and innovate for a brighter future.”
