Dear Colleagues,
We are excited to invite you and your students to attend the upcoming Texas Language
Education Research (TexLER) Conference. This year’s conference, themed “Reclaiming
Community Narratives in the 21st Century,” will bring together scholars, educators, and
students to explore critical issues in language, literacy, and education.
As you know, TexLER has a long-standing tradition of engaging our undergraduate and
graduate students in meaningful academic and professional development opportunities. Many
professors in past years have generously offered extra credit to their students who attend
conference sessions, keynote addresses, or workshops. This practice not only supports
student participation but also encourages them to experience scholarship-in-action,
network with peers and faculty, and connect course learning to broader conversations in
our field.
We encourage you to consider offering extra credit again this year as part of your course.
Conference attendance can be easily documented through session sign-ins, conference
programs, or student reflections, and it provides a unique way for students to deepen
their academic engagement.
TexLER will take place on October 18th at the Downtown Campus. Please see the registration
QR code in the flyer below or register online at www.
Texler.org .
We sincerely appreciate your continued support in fostering student involvement in this
important academic tradition. Should you have any questions, or if you would like
suggested language for your syllabus or assignment guidelines, please feel free to reach
out.
With gratitude,
Caryn M. Calisi, M.S.
