TWHE Conference Registration is Open!
The 2021 Texas Women in Higher Education Conference will be presented virtually on the afternoon of March 22 and the morning of March 23. We look forward to hearing from women across the higher education landscape in Texas as they share their insights to help you showcase your best professional self. 1. How do I register for the TWHE 2021 conference?

Enter your previously used user name (probably your work email address) and password. If you've never registered for a TWHE conference, follow the New User registration process.
2. How much is conference registration?
* This year's conference registration cost is $25, and you will have access to sessions on both days. NOTE: Due to the low cost of the conference, there will be no refunds.
3. Where can I find a schedule for the conference?

4. When is the registration deadline?
* Please register before noon on March 19.

Dear UTSA faculty and staff,
UTSA has extended the Spring 2021 semester to accommodate for the week-long campus closure due to severe winter weather conditions and power disruptions.
* Most notably, the last day of classes will be Friday, May 7. The last day of classes previously had been set for May 4.
* Final exams will be held May 10-14, with Saturday, May 8, as a designated student study day.
* Spring Break holidays will remain as scheduled for the long semester: March 8-12. There should be no required deadlines or assignments for students March 8-14.
* Midterm grades will be due March 18, and final grades will be due May 19. The deadline for faculty to enter grades on each of those dates is 2 p.m.
* For the first 8-week session, the last day of classes will be March 18; final exams will be held March 19.
* The second 8-week session will remain unchanged, as will the May minimester in the Summer 2021 calendar.

I hope you are well and recovering from the storm. In light of last week’s inclement weather and to be respectful of faculty current status, we are extending seed grant program deadlines.
Please see below updated seed grant opportunities offered under the Office of the Vice President for Research, Economic Development, and Knowledge Enterprise (VPREDKE) that can be distributed within your respective college.
Please note - COE and COS faculty are ineligible for the INTRA program..
The Grant for Research Advancement and Transformation (GREAT) program will provide seed grants to support new areas of research for faculty at UTSA. The primary goal of these awards will be to assemble preliminary data that can be used to seek extramural funding and advance UTSA’s institutional research excellence goals (Carnegie R1, NRUF, AAU, etc.). It is expected that up to four grants for a maximum of $20,000 each may be awarded.
NOI Deadline: March 1, 2021 and Proposal Deadline: March 17, 2021
The Transdisciplinary Teams (T2) program will provide seed grants to support UTSA faculty members to engage in scholarly research activities that foster transdisciplinary collaborations. The primary goal of these awards is to assemble teams of researchers from different disciplines that will establish a foundation to seek extramural funding, ultimately advancing UTSA’s research excellence goals (Carnegie R1, NRUF, AAU, etc.).It is anticipated that five grants of $20,000 each may be awarded.
NOI Deadline: March 8, 2021 and Proposal Deadline: March 24, 2021
The Internal Research Awards (INTRA) program is part of The UTSA VPREDKE coordinated efforts to promote research and scholarship of the highest quality. This program offers experience in identifying and submitting applications to potential funding sources, provides preliminary data to support applications for extramural funding, and enhances scholarly and creative activities. It is anticipated that twenty grants of $5,000 each may be awarded.
Proposal Deadline: April 7, 2021
The Connecting through Research Partnerships (Connect) program sponsored by the Office of the VPREDKE at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) and the Southwest Research Institute (SwRI), is a grant opportunity offered to enhance greater scientific collaboration between the two institutions and to increase both UTSA’s and SwRI’s research-funding base with cross-campus collaborative programs. The program encourages interaction between investigators in support of the acquisitions of established extramural, peer-reviewed research funding. This agreement provides unprecedented opportunities for researchers to work together in addressing issues of mutual interest and need. The combined contributions of the two organizations are $125,000, of which UTSA will dedicate $50,000.
Proposal Deadline: April 7, 2021

This is a reminder that tomorrow (Tuesday, February 23rd), Global Proposal Solutions will be hosting a workshop for UTSA faculty interested in learning more about NSF CAREER proposal development.
The Office of Research Support is offering three tiers of CAREER proposal development support. Participating faculty will have the option to work with an internal Senior Grant Development Coordinator, have their proposals sent out for technical review by experts within their field, or work with our external consultant, Global Proposal Solutions (GPS). We highly encourage you to share this information with any individuals that may benefit from the program. This workshop is open to all interested parties, including those that will not be utilizing external review services. Participants may register for this opportunity by visiting the link below!

Inclement Weather: Continued Research Operations

UTSA is planning for inclement weather on Monday and Tuesday. For clarification, please know that all of research operations will continue, including research administration support (e.g., contract negotiation, pre-award, post-award, grant accounting). Only two areas are affected should travel to campus become problematic: LARC and lab safety. These two units have contacted faculty directly if any previously scheduled on-campus meetings, evaluations, or trainings need to be rescheduled.
