Today is the start of the first-ever UTSA Giving Day! COEHD is so excited to be part of the experience for the 1969 minutes challenge! We look forward to your support of our fund, where proceeds help the COEHD’s Student Professional Preparation, Dean’s Annual Fund, and the Prefreshman Engineering Program (PREP). All these projects will help our college in many ways, including funding students' education, tuition, expenses, faculty support, and outreach. It will also help support the work we do in the San Antonio community and beyond. Read more about our projects and how your donation will make a difference to our future community leaders.

TONIGHT: It Gets Better: A Message That Is Still Relevant 10 Years Later
by COEHD Communications
Hello everyone!
We would like to invite you to join us for the virtual session, “It Gets Better: A Message That Is Still Relevant 10 Years Later”, with guest speaker Joel Burns. During this important session, Mr. Burns will discuss:
* Strategies for advocating for LGBTQ youth
* Bullying of LGBTQ youth as a life-threatening problem
* How the It Gets Better Campaign can be used to provide hope for LGBTQ youth but also as an educational tool to help build empathy and understanding of LGBTQ people
* The importance of speaking up even when it involves risks
Before attending the program, we encourage attendees to watch Joel’s original 13-minute speech that gained national attention and has consistently been in the top three It Gets Better videos over the past 10 years. Watch that video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ax96cghOnY4<https://nam11.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.you...>
Please add this It Gets Better program to your calendar and join us tonight, April 5th, 7 – 8 pm. The Zoom link to join is below and a flyer is attached.

COEHD Faculty Research Interest Inventory
by Iwan Notowidigdo
Greetings Colleagues,
The COEHD faculty research interest inventory matrix was developed to promote research collaboration and support identification of grant prospects aligned to faculty members’ specific research interests. It includes research areas provided from a survey conducted last year as well as AERA divisions and AERA keywords related to those self-identified descriptors.

I invite you to correct and modify your own entries and tell your colleagues about entries made for them that need to be refined. There are several faculty members who have no entries, and their participation is essential to having a comprehensive list. As a value-added feature, columns J, K, L have been added to include funding for prior research on topic; example or primary reference; and where to access article/chapter, which our Associate Dean for Research, Dr. Michael Karcher has graciously piloted by entering some data.
Most of all, the COEHD Research team would appreciate any feedback you on using the matrix as a tool to stimulate collaboration on research and grants. An additional goal is to promote public understanding of our College’s impact on educational research and publicize the work of our colleagues.
The COEHD faculty research interest inventory matrix is intended to be a living document designed to serve its users rather than becoming an additional burdensome responsibility. I have set it in Google Sheets as an open document, but I ask that its access be limited to COEHD faculty and staff (meaning please do not disseminate it outside our circle). I will periodically offload a copy to make sure that critical information won’t be lost.
Thank you.
--Iwan
