This program is designed to support projects that address critical needs of the museum field and that have the potential to advance practice in the profession to strengthen museum services for the American public. Projects are expected to:
• propose far-reaching impact to influence practice across one or more disciplines within the museum field;
• reflect a thorough understanding of current practice and knowledge about the subject matter and an awareness of and support for current strategic priorities in the field;
• employ novel approaches to the project area;
• use collaboration to demonstrate broad need, field-wide buy-in and input, and access to appropriate expertise; and
• generate results such as models, new tools, research findings, services, practices, and/or alliances that can be widely used, adapted, scaled, or replicated to extend the benefits of federal investment.
As a result, National Leadership Grants for Museums have significant potential to generate positive societal impact through project activities undertaken as part of the grant-funded work, activities that may be complementary to the project, and through applied research designed specifically for this purpose. IMLS does not prescribe the type, focus, reach, or scale of societal impact required for each project, but the questions to be addressed in the application Narrative and the review criteria reflect the agency’s commitment to both advancing knowledge and understanding and to ensuring that the federal investment made through grants generates benefits to society. Applicants should keep these two aims in mind when they conceptualize their projects, identify the target group(s) they propose to reach, prepare their work plans, and formulate their intended results.

Message from Dean Mario Torres
Greetings COEHD faculty and staff,
This is Mario Torres, your new Dean of the College of Education and Human Development. I hope you found time over the summer months to relax and recharge. First, I want to express to each of you what a privilege and honor it is for me to serve as your dean. I am thrilled to be joining a college and institution that prioritizes to an equal degree inclusiveness, respect, and high caliber scholarship. In the coming weeks, I look forward to meeting and working with each of you as we continue charting the course to becoming the standard-bearer for research-intensive/Hispanic serving/urban serving universities. As an alum of UTSA, I naturally feel a deeper sense of connection and obligation to this institution and as such pledge to each of you my support in helping you realize your academic/professional goals and aspirations.
As you are well aware, the dominant storyline continues to be the “virus” or “viruses” and how they are affecting our way of life. Recently, university leadership (President Taylor Eighmy, Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs Kimberly Andrews Espy and Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice President for Business Affairs Veronica Salazar Mendez) announced temporary measures in teaching/working modality to protect the safety and health of our Roadrunner community.
Some items of note included the following:
* Most courses will be held online for the first three weeks of the semester.
We will begin our semester with most scheduled classes meeting online from August 23 to September 12. This temporary change directly impacts the face-to-face instruction portion of those classes scheduled for traditional in-person or hybrid modality, which will be held online at their regularly scheduled times as listed in ASAP<https://nam11.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fasap.ut...>.
* A mandatory COVID-19 testing requirement will be put into place for students, faculty and staff.
This testing program will be an important step to manage the risk of transmission and help reduce the spread of COVID-19 among the Roadrunner community. More information about the testing requirement will be released soon, including phased scheduling, policies for asymptomatic and symptomatic testing, testing locations, self-reporting, and more.
* Work Modalities
Supervisors may consider limiting on-campus personnel to only those employees who are needed to provide in-person services during the modified fall operations period. Departments will determine appropriate on-campus staffing levels according to service and staffing needs, and supervisors will inform employees if they are needed on campus. Wherever possible, departments should continue to offer virtual services.
Telecommuting agreements that were originally set to expire on July 31 have been extended through this period of modified operations. New Work Modality Conditions & Agreement forms<https://nam11.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.uts...> that were recently executed will become effective on September 13, pending any extension to these operational modifications.
To read these items in full, please visit: https://www.utsa.edu/today/2021/08/story/modified-fall-semester-operation...<https://nam11.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.uts...>
In closing, I wish to extend my deepest appreciation for the role each of you has played in managing this difficult situation; offering assistance and solutions, being flexible and accommodating, and helping your peers and students cope with struggles of different kinds. Your compassion and commitment are a tribute to the wonderful character of this institution.
I realize this has been a trying time for us all but I remain hopeful we will be able to reconvene in person again soon. I’ll keep you posted on any new developments and will be in communication with you regarding upcoming college planning, initiatives, and activities. In the meantime, stay safe. Best wishes for a productive fall semester.
GO RUNNERS!
Sincerely,
Mario Torres

Funding Opportunities US Dept. of Commerce Economic Development Administration August 19, 2021
by Iwan Notowidigdo
Greetings Colleagues,
The following four funding opportunities come from the US Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration. The overall goals of these funded programs are to improve the economic viability of communities; the metrics that are most often used to measure success are new jobs produced, jobs maintained, and funds leveraged. These grants are also a response to the pandemic and the need to emerge economically strong. In terms of thinking out of the box, the hope is to not limit ourselves to regarding this funding only to address prominent San Antonio economic development industrial sectors (such as aerospace, cybersecurity, financial services, health/medical, and manufacturing), but also extend our thinking to K-12 teaching, mental health counseling, and other professional shortages addressed by COEHD. No doubt the pandemic has caused many SA residents to put their higher education plans on hold, and these grants may provide a means for them get back on track. Furthermore, the Statewide Planning, Research, and Networks grant addresses the need for more research.
US DOC EDA FY 2021 STEM Talent Challenge Program Due October 12, 2021
https://eda.gov/oie/stem/
https://eda.gov/files/oie/stem/2021/FY21-STEM-Talent-Challenge-NOFO-Final...
The STEM Talent Challenge aims to build STEM talent training systems to strengthen regional innovation economies. This competition seeks applications from eligible applicants that are creating and implementing STEM talent development strategies that complement their region’s innovation economy, particularly as such strategies relate to emerging, transformative sectors and future industries such as artificial intelligence and machine learning, advanced manufacturing and robotics, space exploration and commerce, bioscience, quantum information science, green products, processes and buildings, and aqua- and agricultural technologies.
The STEM Talent Challenge is designed to help communities with implementing programs that align with the assessed needs of the region and its innovative businesses. Projects should implement or scale STEM competency-based work-and-learn education and training models that are directly connected with the needs of employers in a regional economy. These needs should be evaluated, through a formal or informal needs assessment, meant to determine the types of skills needed by the drivers of regional innovation, including innovative businesses that employ STEM talent. Projects should be responsive to these assessed needs and should clearly indicate how workers will be prepared for employment.
Training should prioritize STEM skills tied to the use of emerging, transformative sectors and the needs of future industries and should include an on-the-job training component. Training models are not tied to existing industry definitions and can include any combination of work-based and classroom learning; experimentation and innovation are encouraged. Applicants should leverage partnerships with local and regional innovation leaders, including technology centers, business incubators and accelerators, community colleges, and STEM industry leaders such as technology startups, advanced manufacturers, life science businesses, and other similar entities. Projects should be closely tied to the needs of the regional innovation economy and should aim to build a talent pipeline for entrepreneurs, startups, and other innovation leaders, as well as place new employees into immediate job openings.
Applicants should have, or have a plan to build, community-based partnerships that connect training and employment with those from underserved populations, with the ultimate goal of increasing diversity, equity, and inclusion in STEM fields.
US DOC EDA American Rescue Plan Act Build Back Better Regional Challenge This is a two-phase competition. The deadline for Phase 1 Concept Proposals is 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on October 19, 2021. For Phase 1 finalists selected to proceed to Phase 2, the deadline for Full Applications is 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on March 15, 2022.
https://eda.gov/arpa/build-back-better/
https://www.grants.gov/web/grants/view-opportunity.html?oppId=334735
EDA’s mission is to lead the Federal economic development agenda by promoting innovation and competitiveness, preparing American regions for growth and success in the worldwide economy. Through this American Rescue Plan Act Build Back Better Regional Challenge Notice of Funding Opportunity (ARPA BBBRC NOFO), EDA aims to assist communities and regions impacted by the coronavirus pandemic. The pandemic has caused, and continues to cause, economic injury to U.S. communities and regions in devastating and unprecedented ways. This ARPA BBBRC NOFO is designed as a two-phase competition to (1) help regions develop transformational economic development strategies and (2) fund the implementation of those strategies that will create and grow regional growth clusters. Such efforts will help regional economies recover from the pandemic and build economic diversity and resiliency to mitigate impacts of future economic disasters as well as benefit regional workforces and residents through creation of high-quality jobs, increased wages, and revitalized communities.
This ARPA BBBRC NOFO is designed to support clusters in transforming their regional economy through groups of complementary, aligned construction and non-construction projects. The projects should be organized under a singular vision to support industry growth across the region. Interested regions should form regional coalitions, in coordination with private sector partners and other partners, that share a common vision for how significant investment from EDA could catalyze wage growth, increased economic growth, the creation of a new industry, and/or the scaling or growth of existing industries in their region. The identified projects should foster economic growth and competitiveness through job creation, capacity building, and attracting private investment.
This ARPA BBBRC NOFO will be administered in two phases:
• In Phase 1, EDA will provide technical assistance grants to approximately 50-60 coalitions (through an eligible entity that serves as a lead institution). These coalitions will be considered “finalists” and the grants will be used by the finalists to prepare more detailed applications for transformational projects that benefit their respective geographic regions and are aligned around a holistic approach to building, strengthening, or scaling a strategic industry or industries.
• In Phase 2, EDA will select 20-30 of the finalist coalitions to receive $25-75 million (and potentially up to $100 million) each to fund the collection of projects they identified. The projects will be funded through grants to coalition members.
While geographic diversity is encouraged, the applicant’s footprint should be designed and bounded in a way that ensures maximum collaboration and impact. The target region could correspond closely to statistical labor market areas such as metropolitan and micropolitan statistical areas, or to an industry that may be geographically dispersed but has unusually strong connectivity due to an established coalition of local government, industry, labor, and academic leaders. Regional growth clusters might reflect a hub and spoke model, anchored around a “hub” such as a city, business park, port, educational or research institution, or technology center, and complemented by significant investment strategies in multiple “spokes” that represent demographic and geographic diversity. Coalitions should clearly articulate how the chosen geographic footprint presents potential for globally competitive industries and a purposeful approach to ambitious yet actionable economic transformation, leading to quality jobs,1 long-term economic competitiveness, and creates stronger urban-rural linkages or stronger rural regional growth clusters. Regardless of the geographic and economic characteristics of the regions, it must be clear how the proposed projects will address economic distress, both historical challenges and those created by the global pandemic.
<<This funding opportunity is possibly also being pursued by UTSA’s Institute for Economic Development so please contact me for further information>>
US DOC EDA FY 2021 American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) Statewide Planning, Research, and NetworksDue October 31, 2021
https://eda.gov/arpa/planning-grants/
https://www.grants.gov/web/grants/view-opportunity.html?oppId=334728
The ARPA Statewide Planning, Research, and Networks NOFO is part of EDA’s multi-phase effort to respond to the coronavirus pandemic as directed by the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021. Specifically, this NOFO seeks to build regional economies for the future through two primary avenues: a) Statewide Planning and b) Research and Networks.
The first part is relevant only to the State making an application.
b. Research and Communities of Practice Challenge
Through Research and Communities of Practice awards, EDA will fund data, tools, and institutional capacity for evaluating and scaling evidence-based economic development efforts and for creating Communities of Practice to connect and provide technical assistance to existing EDA grantees like University Centers, the Revolving Loan Fund network, the Build to Scale network, Economic Development Districts, Tribal partners, and new grantees under the ARPA Build Back Better Regional and Jobs Challenges.
i. Research Program
For Research awards, EDA solicits applications for investments that support research and evaluation projects2 related to economic recovery from the coronavirus pandemic. EDA will support the development of tools, recommendations, and resources that shape Federal economic development policies and inform economic development decision-making. Awards will provide critical, cutting-edge research and best practices to regional, state, and local practitioners in the economic development field, thereby enhancing understanding and implementation of economic development concepts throughout the country. EDA is specifically interested in research projects that will enable real-time research into EDA’s ARPA programs, especially those related to the new Jobs Challenge, Build Back Better Regional Challenge, Indigenous Communities NOFO, and travel and tourism programs. See also section D.2 for more detail on the evaluation parameters EDA seeks.
ii. Communities of Practice Challenge
For the Communities of Practice Challenge, EDA seeks to fund nationwide communities of practice that focus on key groups of economic development stakeholders and provide technical assistance to those groups, including developing methods to increase information and practice sharing, strengthening networks, and accelerating economic recovery. As communities and organizations face depleted institutional resources and are stressed with coronavirus-related demands, they have been unable to connect with and learn from peers across the industry to evaluate and nurture strategies needed to rebuild a more equitable and resilient economy.
US DOC EDA FY 2021 American Rescue Plan Act Good Jobs Challenge Due January 26, 2022
https://eda.gov/arpa/good-jobs-challenge/
https://www.grants.gov/web/grants/view-opportunity.html?oppId=334720
EDA’s mission is to lead the Federal economic development agenda by promoting innovation and competitiveness, preparing American regions, States, and Tribes for growth and success in the worldwide economy. Through this American Rescue Plan Act Good Jobs Challenge Notice of Funding Opportunity (ARPA Good Jobs Challenge NOFO), EDA aims to assist communities and regions impacted by the coronavirus pandemic. The pandemic has caused, and continues to cause, economic injury to U.S. communities and regions in devastating and unprecedented ways.
For the purposes of this NOFO:
• “Sectoral partnership” is defined as a partnership of employers from the same industry who join with other strategic partners to train and place workers into high-quality jobs that the employers need filled and intend to fill through the partnership. The strategic partners can include: government, education (including community and technical colleges), training organizations, economic development organizations, workforce development organizations, unions, labor management partnerships, industry associations, employer-serving organizations, and/or community-based organizations. A sectoral partnership is focused on one specific industry and one or more specific roles within that industry.
o The lead entity of a sectoral partnership is referred to in this NOFO as a “Backbone Organization.” The Backbone Organization serves as an intermediary across all the partners in the sectoral partnership and must be an EDA eligible applicant.
• “Regional workforce training system” is defined as a system that fosters and supports sectoral partnerships. A mature regional workforce training system will include a lead entity and multiple sectoral partnerships, each with their own Backbone Organization, training provider, and industry partners. The lead entity (e.g., a state government, municipal government, state workforce board, local workforce board) coordinates across and supports the sectoral partnerships within its system. A regional workforce training system may also include other entities that support across multiple sectoral partnerships (e.g., a community-based organization that supports recruiting for all of the sectoral partnerships). In a region that does not yet have a regional workforce training system, interested partners are encouraged to join together to apply for funding under this NOFO to develop such a system. Interested parties would include a convener (e.g., a state government, municipal government, state workforce board, local workforce board) who is an eligible EDA applicant as well as entities interested in forming sectoral partnerships (e.g., employers, training providers, unions, community-based organizations).
o The lead entity of a regional workforce training system is referred to in this NOFO as a “System Lead Entity.” The System Lead Entity must be an EDA eligible applicant.
This ARPA Good Jobs Challenge NOFO is designed to help get Americans back to work by investing in (1) developing and strengthening regional workforce training systems that support sectoral partnerships, (2) designing sectoral partnerships, and (3) implementing sectoral partnerships that will lead to high-quality jobs. The goal of regional workforce training systems is to create and support effective training programs that will connect the in-demand and emerging skills needs of employers with qualified workers and help workers find and keep quality jobs1 and advance along their chosen career path.
This program is designed to get Americans back to work and increase wage growth, as well as develop demand-driven systems that will continue to support Americans in securing and retaining quality jobs. Successful applicants will include proactive employer engagement and mobilization and employer commitments to hire.
Regional workforce training systems and sectoral partnerships funded under this NOFO should connect employers in an industry with key regional stakeholders, including State, Tribal, and local governmental entities, economic development organizations, workforce development boards, Career OneStops, employer-facing organizations and employer associations, education and training providers, community-based organizations (CBOs) (including faith-based organizations), worker-serving organizations (WSOs), labor unions, and/or other key stakeholders with responsibilities in advancing the goals of the sectoral partnerships. The system or partnership should be led by a System Lead Entity or Backbone Organization, respectively, serving as an intermediary that has convening power in the region and the capacity to coordinate engagement and collaboration across all necessary stakeholders.
EDA encourages sectoral partnerships to address populations with labor market barriers such as persons with disabilities, disconnected youth, individuals in recovery, individuals with past criminal records including justice-impacted and reentry participants, serving trainees participating in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), and Women, Infants and Children (WIC), and veterans and military spouses. EDA also encourages partnerships with Historically Black Colleges and Universities, Tribal Colleges and Universities, or Minority-Serving Institutions.
Here is a list of recently funded programs by EDA: https://www.eda.gov/grants/
Please contact me if you want to discuss any of these possibilities.
Thank you

NEH Dialogues on the Experience of War (CDFA #45.163) Optional Draft due September 8, 2021; Application due October 14, 2021
https://www.neh.gov/grants/education/dialogues-the-experience-war
The Dialogues on the Experience of War program supports the study and discussion of important humanities sources about war, in the belief that these sources can help U.S. military veterans and others think more deeply about the issues raised by war and military service. Project teams should include humanities scholars, military veterans, and individuals with relevant experience.
Dialogues projects must include:
* Discussion programs: The convening of at least two sustained discussion series focused on humanities resources and themes that address the experiences of war and military service. Discussions may be held in person or virtually, but they must provide enough time to build intellectual community among all of the participants.
* Preparatory programs: The creation of an in person or virtual preparatory program to recruit, train, and mentor a sufficient number of individuals to serve as discussion leaders for the series.
NEH Humanities Connections (CDFA # 45.162) Application due September 14, 2021
https://www.neh.gov/grants/education/humanities-connections
The Humanities Connections program seeks to expand the role of the humanities in undergraduate education at two- and four-year institutions. Awards support innovative curricular approaches that foster partnerships among humanities faculty and their counterparts in the social and natural sciences and in pre-service or professional programs (such as business, engineering, health sciences, law, computer science, and other technology-driven fields), in order to encourage and develop new integrative learning opportunities for students.
Humanities Connections projects must include:
* substantive and purposeful integration of the subject matter, perspectives, and pedagogical approaches of two or more disciplines (with a minimum of one in and one outside of the humanities)
* collaboration between faculty from two or more departments or schools at one or more institutions
* experiential learning as an intrinsic part of the proposed curriculum
* long-term institutional support for the proposed curriculum innovation(s)
Competitive applications will demonstrate:
* that the proposed curricular project expands the role of the humanities in addressing significant and compelling topics or issues in undergraduate education at the applicant institution(s)
* that these projects develop the intellectual skills and habits of mind cultivated by the study of the humanities
* that faculty and students will benefit from meaningful collaborations in teaching and learning across disciplines as a result of the project
The Humanities Connections program includes two funding levels: Planning and Implementation
NEH/NSF Dynamic Language Infrastructure – Documenting Endangered Languages Senior Research Grants (CDFA # 45.160) Application due September 15, 2021
https://www.neh.gov/grants/preservation/documenting-endangered-languages
The Documenting Endangered Languages (DEL) program is a partnership between the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) and the National Science Foundation (NSF) to develop and advance knowledge concerning endangered human languages. Made urgent by the imminent death of an estimated half of the 6,000-7,000 currently used languages, this effort aims also to exploit advances in information technology. Awards support fieldwork and other activities relevant to recording, documenting, and archiving endangered languages, including the preparation of lexicons, grammars, text samples, and databases.
Applications are submitted to NSF for review. https://www.nsf.gov/pubs/2020/nsf20603/nsf20603.htmUpon completion of the review process, the administration of awards is conducted separately by NEH or NSF.
NEH Archaeological and Ethnographic Field Research (CDFA # 45.161) Application due September 15, 2021
https://www.neh.gov/program/archaeological-and-ethnographic-field-research
The Archaeological and Ethnographic Field Research program makes awards to institutions and organizations conducting empirical field research to answer significant questions in the humanities. Archaeology and ethnography are important methodologies utilized by many disciplines across the humanities and social sciences that provide observational and experiential data on human history and culture.
Archaeological methods may include field survey and field-based remote sensing, documentation or visualization, and/or excavations in support of answering research questions in all aspects of the human past, including but not limited to ancient studies, anthropology, art history, classical studies, regional studies, epigraphy, and other related disciplines. Ethnographic methods may include participant observation, surveys and interviews, and documentation or recording in pursuit of research questions in anthropology, ethnolinguistics, oral history, ethnomusicology, performance studies, folklore studies, and related disciplines.
Projects may be led by individuals with institutional affiliation or by teams of collaborating scholars from the same or multiple eligible institutions. Awards provide up to three years of support for fieldwork and data processing. While the ultimate expectation of such awards is the dissemination of results through publications and other media, this program supports costs related to fieldwork such as travel, accommodation, and equipment as well as compensation for field staff and salary replacement for the project director and collaborating scholars. Applicants interested in publishing the results of field research are encouraged to apply to one of NEH’s individual fellowship programs or Collaborative Research.
NEH Infrastructure and Capacity Building Challenge Grants (CDFA # 45.130) Application due September 29, 2021
https://www.neh.gov/grants/preservation/infrastructure-and-capacity-build...
The purpose of the Challenge Grants program is to strengthen the institutional base of the humanities by enabling infrastructure development and capacity building. Awards aim to help institutions secure long-term support for their core activities and expand efforts to preserve and create access to outstanding humanities materials.
The program funds two distinct types of projects, each with its own Notice of Funding Opportunity:
* Capital Projects supports the design, purchase, construction, restoration, or renovation of facilities for humanities activities. This includes the purchase and installation of related moveable and permanently affixed equipment for exhibiting, maintaining, monitoring, and protecting collections (whether on exhibit or in storage), and for critical building systems, such as electrical, heating ventilation and air conditioning, security, life safety, lighting, utilities, telecommunications, and energy management.
* Digital Infrastructure supports the maintenance, modernization, and sustainability of existing digital scholarly projects and platforms.
Fundraising is a critical part of NEH Challenge grant awards: up to 10 percent of total funds (Challenge matching funds plus certified gifts) may be used for fundraising costs during the period of performance.
NEH Sustaining Cultural Heritage Collections (CDFA #45.149) Optional Draft due December 9, 2021; Application due January 13, 2021
https://www.neh.gov/grants/preservation/sustaining-cultural-heritage-coll...
The Sustaining Cultural Heritage Collections program helps cultural institutions meet the complex challenge of preserving large and diverse holdings of humanities materials for future generations by supporting sustainable conservation measures that mitigate deterioration, prolong the useful life of collections, and support institutional resilience: the ability to anticipate and respond to disasters resulting from natural or human activity.
Cultural institutions, including libraries, archives, museums, and historical organizations, face an enormous challenge: to preserve humanities collections that facilitate research, strengthen teaching, and provide opportunities for lifelong learning. To ensure the preservation of books and manuscripts, photographs, sound recordings and moving images, archaeological and ethnographic artifacts, art, and historical objects, cultural institutions must implement measures that slow deterioration and prevent catastrophic loss from emergencies resulting from natural or human activity. They can accomplish this work most effectively through preventive conservation. Preventive conservation encompasses managing relative humidity, temperature, light, and pollutants in collection spaces; providing protective storage enclosures and systems for collections; and safeguarding collections from theft, fire, floods, and other disasters.
As museums, libraries, archives, and other collecting institutions strive to be effective stewards of humanities collections, they must find ways to implement preventive conservation measures that are sustainable. This program helps cultural repositories plan and implement preservation strategies that pragmatically balance effectiveness, cost, and environmental impact. Sustainable approaches to preservation can contribute to an institution’s financial health, reduce its use of fossil fuels, and benefit its green initiatives, while ensuring that collections are well cared for and available for use in humanities programming, education, and research. Sustainable preventive conservation measures may also aim to prepare and plan for, absorb, respond to, recover from, and more successfully protect collections in the event of emergencies resulting from natural or human activity.
NEH Public Scholars (CDFA # 45.160) Application due December 15, 2021
https://www.neh.gov/grants/research/public-scholar-program
The Public Scholars program supports the creation of well-researched nonfiction books in the humanities written for the broad public. It does so by offering grants to individual authors for research, writing, travel, and other activities leading to publication. Writers with or without an academic affiliation may apply, and no advanced degree is required. The program is intended both to encourage non-academic writers to deepen their engagement with the humanities by strengthening the research underlying their books and to encourage academic writers in the humanities to communicate the significance of their research to the broadest possible range of readers. NEH especially encourages applications to this program from independent writers, researchers, scholars, and journalists.
NEH Scholarly Editions and Scholarly Translations (CDFA #45.161) Optional Draft due September 24, 2021; Application due December 1, 2021
https://www.neh.gov/grants/research/scholarly-editions-and-translations-g...
The Scholarly Editions and Scholarly Translations program provides grants to organizations to support collaborative teams who are editing, annotating, and translating foundational humanities texts that are vital to learning and research but are currently inaccessible or are available only in inadequate editions or translations. Typically, the texts are significant literary, philosophical, and historical materials, but other types of work, such as musical notation, may also be the subject of an edition.
The program supports continuous full-time or part-time activities during the periods of performance of one to three years. Projects must be undertaken by at least two scholars working collaboratively. While international collaboration is permitted, projects must maintain an equitable balance between scholars at U.S. institutions and scholars at non-U.S. institutions. In addition to supporting long-term editorial projects, the program also encourages applications for short-term projects and for projects that are at a planning stage.
