We have published studies on the ways that NFB helps with anxiety-related disorders and PTSD, including first responders. In addition, doctoral dissertation projects have researched specific ways that neurofeedback is helpful for counselor burnout and reducing alcohol cravings. The addition of a 38-channel EEG system, using Event-Related Potential assessments, will bolster our research capacities going forward on ways that the brains of anxious and traumatized individuals process information, with the goal of developing more effective neurofeedback approaches for these populations. An international collaborative has been formed using database servers with analytical tools hosted by the UTSA neurofeedback program to refine neurofeedback approaches to a wide range of conditions.

ATE Receives Grant to Prevent Summer Learning Loss for Students in SAISD
The Bloomberg Philanthropies grant fund awarded UTSA's Academy for Teacher Excellence and Research Center (ATE), with a $300,000 grant that will facilitate a summer program tailored for rising 1st grade students who are emergent bilingual children attending in-district charter schools in SAISD. The grant will support the program that will run from June 4-28, with educational field trips to SeaWorld, the zoo, and the DoSeum.
The grant will also provide funding for enrichment activities including bike giveaways for exercise promotion, fishing poles and tackle boxes for recreational activities, and delivering multilingual books and bookshelves to children to promote literacy and cultural appreciation outside of the classroom.

The following six US Department of Education funding opportunities consist of two from the Institute of Education Sciences, three types of grants within the Education and Innovation Research competition from the Office of Elementary and Secondary Education, and the Graduate Assistance in Areas of National Need (GAANN) program from the Office of Postsecondary Education. The Institute of Education Sciences (IES) is offering two significant grant programs designed to enhance educational outcomes and inform policymaking through research:
Transformative Research in the Education Sciences (ALN 84.305T)

- Cost Sharing: Required, with grantees needing to secure matching funds equal to 10% of total grant funds by the beginning of the second year.
Using Longitudinal Data To Support State Education Policymaking (ALN 84.305S)

General Goals of IES Grant Programs:
These programs aim to provide reliable information on education practices that improve learning outcomes and expand access to educational opportunities. The target audience includes educators, parents, policymakers, and the general public. By funding these initiatives, IES seeks to assert national leadership in advancing educational knowledge across all levels of education.
US Department of Education: Education Innovation and Research (EIR) grants program
The Education Innovation and Research (EIR) grants are categorized into three types—Early-phase, Mid-phase, and Expansion grants—each designed to support educational projects at different stages of development and evidence of effectiveness. The focus is on the impact of COVID-19 on education in various contexts.

Funding Intent: The focus is on bringing proven practices to scale, reaching a substantial number of new sites or significantly expanding the target population to maximize impact on student achievement and attainment.

Application Submission Deadline: July 5, 2024
Each type of grant targets a specific stage in the innovation and evidence-building process, allowing for a continuum from testing new ideas to scaling proven solutions. Graduate Assistance in Areas of National Need (GAANN) Deadline: June 24, 2024

Overview: GAANN provides grants to support graduate fellowships for students with excellent academic records and financial need, aiming for the highest degree available in their course of study at the institution.
Funding Details:
- Available Funds: $20,479,535.

- Minimum and Maximum Grant: $100,000 to $750,000 per fiscal year.
- Average Size of Awards: $336,306, for an estimated 6 fellowships per application.
- Number of Awards: Estimated 60.
- Project Period: Up to 36 months.
Stipend and Payments:
- Stipend Level: Equivalent to the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program for 2024-25, adjusted to not exceed the fellow's financial need.

Priorities and Areas of National Need:

Eligibility:
