Call for Nominations: Regents' Outstanding Teaching Award (ROTA)

Just sending a friendly reminder to submit ROTA nominations. Have a wonderful rest of your week!
It is that time of the year to start selecting nominees for the Regents' Outstanding Teaching Award (ROTA). The awards are a symbol of the importance placed on the provision of teaching and learning of the highest order. The awards are offered in recognition of those who serve our students in an exemplary manner and as an incentive for others who aspire to such service. Please have your nominations submitted to COEHD.dean(a)utsa.edu<mailto:COEHD.dean@utsa.edu> for the ROTA award by 5pm on March 14th, 2025. At this time a nomination name and brief description as to why the individual or yourself is nominated. Please do not send nominations directly to faculty awards. Faculty Success will notify selected nominees to prepare application materials for phase two of the process.
Nomination Criteria
* The ROTA program will focus on a commitment to teaching and delivering excellence to the learning experience through outstanding teaching including effectiveness, innovation, and creativity.
* Potential indicators of excellence in teaching include, but are not limited to, the demonstrated enhancement of student learning through:
* Developing innovations that are responsive to student needs.
* Pursuing effectiveness, innovation, and creativity in the classroom, clinic, or setting in which teaching and learning take place.
* Demonstrating the use of strategies that actively engage the learner.
* Creating opportunities for experiential learning.
* Using technology effectively.
* Adapting teaching methods to improve teaching and learning.
* Striving to learn and improve one's own teaching.
* Being a leader in teaching and learning by having a positive impact on their colleagues' teaching.
Eligibility
* Both tenured/tenure-track and non-tenure-track candidates are eligible.
* Educators at the undergraduate or graduate level, including faculty supporting professional degree programs (i.e., J.D., M.D., M.Arch, etc.) are eligible
* Faculty who are nominated should not have previously received the ROTA award.
Important Information:
* All nominations should be submitted to COEHD.dean(a)utsa.edu<mailto:COEHD.dean@utsa.edu>
* Nomination email should include faculty member name, department, and brief reason why they are being nominated
* Deadline: 5pm on March 14th
* A college-level committee will review all COEHD nominations. The committee will select COEHD nominees (1 T/TT and 1 FTT) and forward names to faculty success by their deadline.
* Faculty Success will contact nominees for Phase I application materials at the end of March.

Town Hall -COEHD

We are currently seeking nominations for the COEHD FTT Representative on UTSA's Faculty Senate<https://www.utsa.edu/senate/>.
The UTSA Faculty Senate is an elected body that represents faculty interests on university matters. The university leadership regularly engages the Senate at all levels. As such, it is vital that we, COEHD faculty, have appropriate representation in this organization.
Each college elects one Fixed Term Track faculty representative to this body to serve a three-year term. Please use this form <https://forms.office.com/r/RL6xFYvsM3> to submit nominations for a FTT faculty representative to the Faculty Senate no later than 5pm on March 21, 2025.
Important Information:
* Any faculty member at any rank can submit a nomination
* Nominees must be full time Fixed Term Track faculty in the COEHD

Nominations for COEHD Awards of Excellence

The College of Education and Human Development (COEHD) will be hosting the first COEHD Evening of Excellence on May 7th. At this event, we will be celebrating and recognizing the impact and contributions of those connected to COEHD. At the event we will be announcing the COEHD Award of Excellence recipients, the categories for the awards are below.
* Community Impact to recognize individuals in the community who have provided leadership and made contributions to the public good. The award recognizes efforts to continually contribute to the community and create connections between the university and community to provide an impact. Nominees for this award do not have to be from within the immediate COEHD community.
* Faculty Excellence to recognize faculty who are actively engaged in their respective fields through research, teaching, community engagement, and service. These faculty have worked effortlessly to make significant contributions in their respective fields.
* Distinguished Alumni to honor graduates who have embodied the college’s commitment to establish a global benchmark for fostering inclusive and transformative leadership. Recognizes the contributions and impact of alumni from COEHD in their professional pursuits and toward their organizations, professions, communities, the university, and/or the college.
* Student Excellence to honor the achievements and contributions of current undergraduate and graduate COEHD students who are using their skills and knowledge to make an impact in the community within their respective fields.
* Staff Excellence to recognize the work of the COEHD staff who strive to support the success of students across the college. These staff model the values of the college and demonstrated initiative, teamwork, and collaboration in their efforts.
* Partner of the Year to honor partners with the college who have made contributions that have supported the college to achieve their mission and goals. Recognizes the contributions and impact of these partners within the community to promote higher education in the fields of education and human development.
We invite you to nominate individuals for these awards who demonstrate the values of the college and university and are committed to making contributions in their respective fields. Winners will be recognized at the COEHD Gala and will be invited to bring one guest with them.
