Please share this call for proposals with faculty in your department and others in your area: Dear UTSA Provost, Vice Provosts, Deans, Department Chairs, Institutes and Centers: In an effort to enhance understanding of Mexico and Latin America, the Carlos and Malú Alvarez International Study Fund, offers scholarships and enrichment funds to defray the cost to students participating in UTSA Study Abroad programs. Programs must involve travel to one the following areas: unrestricted regions of Mexico, Central or South America. The International Study Fund is directly supported by distributions from the Carlos and Malú Alvarez Endowment for Student Success. The endowment goal is to directly benefit the student recipients and encourage participation in study abroad activities, thus the funds cannot be used for program related expenses, such as faculty stipends, travel, and educational materials. Please note the Alvarez International Study Fund gives direct consideration to department and/or college sponsored international initiatives and programs. Proposals that recommend and/or nominate a single international scholarship award for an individual UTSA student (based on his or her merits) will not be considered. Successful applicants will be notified via email by late June 2016. Note about disbursement: The UTSA Endowment Compliance officer indicates that the total annual (August 2016) projected award funding amount for the 2016-17 academic year will not sustain any early (pre-September 2016) withdrawals from the International Study Fund account this FY.
