Dr. Maria Arreguin-Anderson, associate professor in the Department of Interdisciplinary
Learning and Teaching, was elected to the Executive Board of the National Association of
Bilingual Educators. She will represent the Central Region from 2016-2019 and will be
officially sworn in on July 2.

The Mexican American Studies (MAS) Program at UTSA completed a series of professional
presentations covering the MAS degree program at UTSA at three Alamo Colleges to more than
45 community college students. These presentations stressed the importance of double
majoring in Mexican American Studies, which increases jobseekers’ preparation for
employment in the growing Mexican American, Mexican, and Central American populations of
San Antonio and the nation.

allegedly had been abused for at least two weeks and for days had been tied up with dog
chains and left outside. “When (abuse) has been this extreme, it’s a long process to
