The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) has received a five-year, $3.25 million
Title V collaborative grant from the U.S. Department of Education to create the PIVOT
program to increase student engagement, retention and graduation at UTSA and the Alamo
Colleges. COEHD professor, Dr. Patricia Sanchez, is part of the grant team.

As a part of the Office of the Vice Provost for International Initiatives’ efforts to
expand our faculty-led education abroad programs, applications are being solicited for the
summer 2016 UTSA International Education Abroad Faculty Travel Grant. This grant will
offer a one-time $1,000 travel grant to faculty leaders of UTSA study abroad programs.
This grant is to defray faculty travel costs that are embedded in the overall program cost

The Academy for Teacher Excellence (ATE) is currently seeking students to volunteer in our
after-school Informal Learning Clubs beginning Spring 2016. Students are loaned an iPad at
the beginning of the program, and if they fulfill all the requirements they get to keep
the iPad! The ATE staff has a short, 10-minute, prepared presentation with handouts and we
would like to come visit your class(es) sometime between January 11 and January 25 and
