The University of Texas at San Antonio formally launches a new funding opportunity in
response to the UT Chancellor's Texas Prospect Initiative- UTSA's Achieving
Literacy Initiative (ALI) Program.
The ALI program, a joint initiative between the Office of the President, Office of the
Vice President for Research (VPR), and the College of Education and Human Development
(COEHD) at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA), will provide seed grants to
support new areas of research for faculty at UTSA. The primary goal is to assemble
preliminary data that can be used to seek extramural funding. Approximately two grants for
a maximum of $10,000 each may be awarded. The ALI program has specific goals with minimal
stipulations and it is anticipated that faculty will build cross-disciplinary research
partnerships through this program.
Objectives of this program are to provide seed funding that:
* Promotes an increase in literacy achievement for underserved populations in the San
Antonio area (with a particular focus on K - 12 literacy).
* Promotes innovation in literacy education and literacy research.
* Draws upon community partnerships.
