The Award is given to a faculty member who embodies the principle of UJIMA: Collective Work and Responsibility; the third of seven principles of Kwanzaa. In addition, the recipient of the award is a role model and mentor for students and supports the African American and Black community on and off campus. UTSA employees have received phone calls on both work and personal phone numbers from individuals claiming to be Microsoft support representatives. The caller states that they are aware of a problem with the UTSA employee’s computer and need information about the machine, including the IP address, in order to provide technical support. Marone’s project Remix 4 Diversity!, transforms his IDS-3123 Culture, Literature, and Fine Arts class into a dynamic “remixing lab” that integrates individual and group projects, as well as in-class, outside-the-class, and online learning activities.
