[Image]Hello colleagues! I am sending this message on behalf of Dr. Kalinec-Craig, who is on development leave this semester. We have an exciting opportunity this semester for you and your students. We are thrilled to virtually host Olga Torres, a retired elementary bilingual education teacher from Tucson, Arizona, who theorized the Rights of the Learner (e.g., the right to be confused; to make a mistake; to speak, listen, and be heard; to write, do, and represent what makes sense to you) and has inspired us at UTSA to incorporate this into our program and curriculum. Señora Torres will share pivotal experiences as a bilingual educator and how we can reimagine classrooms as humanizing and democratic spaces where all children have the right to thrive.
