Dear Colleagues,
COEHD, COLFA, HCaP, and CACP are working together to provide consistent and equitable
compensation for off-contract teaching efforts during summer terms. The guiding
principles of this agreement are to (1) ensure student access to courses, (2) create an
equitable compensation rate, (3) maintain disciplinary specific compensation, and (4)
enable reliable budget forecasting related to expenditures, which are further articulated
in the attached memo.
It is important to ensure that student success and access are prioritized when considering
summer teaching assignments. In creating an even distribution of course availability and
teaching assignments, we ask that faculty work with their department chairs to help meet
these goals within the constraints of disciplinary-specific curricula.
With regards to creating an equitable compensation rate that is in-line with disciplinary
practice, we are developing a per course rate that will be applied to both T/TT faculty
and NTT faculty. We are currently finalizing an analysis of the data and a memo that
sets the compensation rate will be forthcoming.
Best,
Margo
