Drs. Derek Robertson, Brenda Jones, and Ashley Prado, faculty in the Department of
Counseling, and Dr. Janee’ Avent from East Carolina University were selected as the
recipients of the 2018 Outstanding Article Award from the Association for Counselor
Education and Supervision (ACES) for their article, "Faith, Race, and LGB
Affirmation: Experiences of African American Counselors-In-Training."

Public Policy hosting Archer Graduate Program information

The UTSA College of Public Policy is hosting an information session on the Archer Graduate
Program in Washington, D.C., on Sept. 11, 2018 in the Student Union – SU 2.02.12 from
12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. Two additional sessions will take place at a later date at the
Downtown Campus.
The Archer program gives students the opportunity to intern in Washington, D.C. during the
summer semester. They learn more about the federal policy-making process and gain valuable
skills necessary in many public service professions. Students do not have to be in the
College of Public Policy to apply. This education and professional opportunity is for any
graduate student at UTSA who may have an interest in politics and an interest in the role
of government as it pertains to their educational and career goals.

Pay off UTSA parking citations with peanut
butter<http://education.utsa.edu/awards_announcements/article/pay_off_...
Peanut butter parking time has returned to UTSA. Today, Campus Services launched its
fourth annual Peanut Butter Parking Campaign in collaboration with the Student Government
Association (SGA) and the San Antonio Food Bank.
During the campaign, customers have the option to pay eligible parking citations issued
between Monday, August 27 and Friday, August 31 with a donation of peanut butter. The
Peanut Butter Parking Campaign educates the campus community about parking policies while
simultaneously reducing financial burden and benefiting the local community.

Several previous studies called into question the government’s official tally. One
analysis by researchers at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and other
institutions concluded that the number of hurricane-related deaths likely ranged from
about 800 to 8,500. A study released earlier this month by researchers at Pennsylvania
State University and the University of Texas at San Antonio estimated the number of
fatalities was 1,139.

The University of Texas System Board of Regents Monday voted unanimously to appoint James
B. Milliken as the next chancellor of the UT System. Milliken previously was named sole
finalist at a special board meeting held on Aug. 4. Per Texas law, regents waited at least
