Kristen Lindahl Teacher Education Interest Section Teaching English to Speakers of Other
Languages (TESOL) International
Dr. Kristen Lindahl, assistant professor in the Department of Bicultural-Bilingual
Studies, was recently elected to chair the Teacher Education Interest Section for Teaching
English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) International. TESOL and its related
affiliates encompass 161 countries and include about 44,000 members; Teacher Education is
the largest interest section in the association.

Amanda Swearingen Mary Finocchiaro Award for excellence in unpublished pedagogical
material design Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) International
Amanda Swearingen, MA-TESL graduate student in the Department of Bicultural-Bilingual
Studies, is this year's recipient of the TESOL International Mary Finocchiaro Award
for excellence in unpublished pedagogical material design. Amanda submitted the project
she developed during summer 2016 in a UTSA graduate course (ESL 5083 Program and Syllabus
Design), and will be honored at TESOL 2017 in Seattle.
