Technology is helping parents keep on eye on the school lunches being served to their
kids. It's a mobile app that allows parents to see the nutritional content, potential
allergens and even photos of the food being served at school. Along with all the hours
students spend in the classroom each school year, they also spend an average of 93 hours
in the cafeteria. This year at this South Carolina high school, mobile technology is
serving up the menu.

Center, showers are always welcome. As long as there isn’t lightning or anything else
other potentially dangerous in the air, the 4-year-olds head outside. They don brightly
colored rain gear, slip their feet into tiny red galoshes and get to work. Play is
hard-wired into mammals, said John Sutterby, an associate professor at UTSA who studies
play. It’s such a biological imperative that children who aren’t permitted time to do it
will play in secret, he said, and will find ways to turn chores into games.
