The mission of Child Advocates San Antonio (CASA) is to recruit, train, and supervise
court-appointed volunteer Advocates who provide constancy for abused and ...
They are very interested in engagement with UTSA and COEHD, and one potential area where
we can collaborate is around professional development for their volunteers. The volunteers
are required to engage in 1 hours of PD annually, and currently they provide this in
house. They are interested in possible workshops by COEHD faculty on topics that could
they suggested could be included:
- What to expect at an annual IEP review meeting
- Dealing with substance abuse in families/ understanding the effects of substance abuse
-Navigating the school records review: what to look for and how to interpret it
- Early Childhood Development
-Adolescent Development
-Effects of abuse and neglect
-Cultural Diversity
If you are interested in developing such an opportunity as part of your College or
Community Service, or have another idea for working with organization, please let me
