Subject: Poster Award at Texas Higher Education Symposium
I am pleased to report the results of the Most Outstanding Poster award from last
week's Texas Higher Education Symposium. Posters were submitted from UTSA (4), UT
Arlington (2), University of the Incarnate Word, and the University of Houston-Victoria.
Dr. Vijay Kanagala chaired the poster session, and was assisted in judging posters by Dr.
Mark Giles of ELPS and Dr. Lucila Ek of Bicultural-Bilingual Studies.
Mr. Alvin Curette, a doctoral student from the ELPS Higher Education program, won for his
poster on the "Experiences of African American Undergraduates in a Black Male Student
Organization at a Hispanic Serving Institution." Two others received Honorable
Mentions, including Jennifer Castro of UTSA and Erin Fogleman of UT Arlington. Please join
me in congratulating two ELPS doctoral students--Alvin Curette and Jennifer Castro--for
these outstanding results!
Also, thank you to Drs. Kanagala, Giles, and Ek for their dedicated work on judging this
session!
