Greetings Colleagues, With this e-blast, I’m giving an early notice of two funding opportunities from the Spencer Foundation: Research Practice Partnerships and the Spencer Foundation Large Research Grants. Research Practice Partnership will open in Mid-September 2023 with a Letter of Intent due mid-October and final proposal due in mid-November https://www.spencer.org/grant_types/research-practice-partnerships <<From the Spencer Foundation site>> The Research-Practice Partnership (RPP) Grants Program is intended to support education research projects that engage in collaborative and participatory partnerships with project budgets up to $400,000 and durations of up to three years. We view partnerships as an important approach to knowledge generation and the improvement of education, broadly construed. Over the long term, we anticipate that research conducted by RPPs will result in new insights into the processes, practices, and policies that improve education for learners, educators, families, communities, and institutions where learning and teaching happen (e.g., schools, universities, museums, other workplaces). Spencer Research Grants—Large will be announced in December with an LOI due in January and final proposal due in February. https://www.spencer.org/grant_types/large-research-grant <<From the Spencer Foundation site>> The Large Research Grants on Education Program supports education research projects that will contribute to the improvement of education, broadly conceived, with budgets ranging from $125,000 to $500,000 for projects ranging from one to five years. We anticipate awarding grants with budgets across each of the following funding tiers -- $125,000 to 250,000; $250,001 to $375,000; and $375,001 to $500,000. Within each of our funding tiers, we evaluate projects within tier and strongly encourage applicants to submit for funding that best fits their project rather than applying for the highest amount. We accept Intent to Apply forms twice a year. This program is “field-initiated” in that proposal submissions are not in response to a specific request for a particular research topic, discipline, design, method, or location. Our goal for this program is to support rigorous, intellectually ambitious and technically sound research that is relevant to the most pressing questions and compelling opportunities in education. In addition, I will be holding office hours twice each Monday at 9 AM and 3 PM with updates and specific topics to be covered. This Monday the topic will be Grant Writing Best Practices: Tips and strategies for writing successful grant proposals in the field of education. The next group of topics will be as follows: 1. Education Funding Landscape: Providing insights into funding opportunities, sources, and trends in education. 9/11/2023 2. STEM Education Initiatives: Exploring innovative approaches to promoting science, technology, engineering, and mathematics education. 9/18/2023 3. Teacher Professional Development: Discussing approaches to continuous professional development for educators. 9/25/2023 4. Inclusive Education Strategies: Discussing methods to create inclusive classrooms and promote diversity in educational settings. 10/02/2023 5. Language Acquisition and Bilingual Education: Exploring effective approaches to teaching English language learners and promoting bilingual education. 10/09/2023 6. Special Education Policies: Reviewing current policies and practices in special education and inclusion. 10/16/2023 7. Culturally Responsive Teaching: Exploring strategies to effectively engage diverse student populations. 10/23/2023 8.
