Greetings Colleagues
I'm excited to share an inspiring opportunity from the Mellon Foundation that aligns
closely with our College’s commitment to humanities and social justice within higher
education.
https://www.mellon.org/news/mellon-foundation-issues-call-for-concepts-fr...
Mellon recently announced on LinkedIn and Instagram a call for concept submissions from
higher education institutions keen on developing research or curricular projects in three
key areas:
* Cultures of US Democracy: Projects focusing on the foundational conditions promoting
U.S. democratic practices, exploring paths for nurturing and sustaining democracy amidst
our complex and divided society.
* Environmental Justice Studies: Initiatives emphasizing systems-based approaches
(e.g., food, water, health) or exploring community-specific interrelated systems through
various analytical or disciplinary perspectives.
* Social Justice and Disciplinary Knowledge: Proposals that demonstrate how certain
academic disciplines or interdisciplinary approaches can confront social justice issues
effectively, using their unique research and analytical methods.
These categories highlight Mellon’s dedication to fostering just communities, underscored
by critical thinking, to address the pressing need for justice-focused research,
curriculum, and academic programs nationwide.
