Dear Colleagues and Graduate Students,
The American Educational Research Association (AERA), the largest educational research
association in the World,
has created a special offer for Doctoral Students. AERA has reduced membership dues of
Doctoral Graduate Students to
$25, with free membership in an AERA Division and additional Division membership for just
$5 each!
One may also join Special Interest Groups (SIG's) with fees waived. One complementary
subscription to the
AERA journal, the Educational Researcher, is available and one additional journal of
choice.
There is a Graduate Student Newsletter, Connections, published three times per year, at no
cost to graduate students.
There is a discount available for the Annual Conference, April 8th to 12th, 2021 to be
held by Zoom.
There are 25,000 AERA members and Doctoral Students represent 25% of the total membership
of AERA.
UTSA has agreed to participate in the AERA Doctoral Student Cohort Program allowing for
the above reductions. Contact Christopher Kibbe in the Dean's Office for additional
information, 210-458-2370.
I also encourage you to go to the AERA Website, to also learn more, become a member, and
register for the Conference. Please contact
members@aera.net<mailto:members@aera.net> or call 202-238-3200.
Why join? AERA has about 160 Special Interest Groups, in educational research, in
Literacy, Special Education, TESOL, Bilingual Education, Educational Psychology,
Counseling, Human Development, Civic Education, Arts Education, Science Education, Social
Studies Education, Mathematics Education, Higher Education and Administration,
Cross-cultural and international fields of inquiry/study, research methods, and more. This
organization is one way of staying up-to-date on research funding, job opportunities, and
research outcomes. As a 45-year member, I have found AERA to be extremely valuable for
career development in my lifetime and
among students.
Please do not hesitate to contact me, if I can be of further assistance.
All best wishes for the Spring Semester and Creative Research!
