Speed Networking Event
by Amaury Nora
Good Afternoon All,
The Office for Research Support has coordinated a Speed Networking Event on Tuesday, February 10th from 4 - 6 pm at the downtown campus. This is the first of several researcher networking events that we will hold this spring to help stimulate interdisciplinary research at UTSA in the Cluster Areas of Excellence identified in Accelerate 2025. This particular networking event is focused on Social and Educational Transformation and Sustainable Communities and Critical Infrastructure. Please see the attached flyer. This event has been highly advertised by the Associate Deans' for Research, VPR Newsletter, VPR Website and via the Faculty Center marketing outlets. The Office for Research Support will be providing information that is extremely valuable to researchers, such as opened seed grant opportunities, faculty profile search tools and the opportunity to meet researchers from across campus that you may not otherwise engage with. As well, there will be food and drinks for all attendees.
Sincerely,
Amaury Nora, Professor & Associate Dean for Research

FW: PeopleSoft (2/1/2015)
by Juliet Ray
Good Morning,
Please see Can's note below regarding PeopleSoft issues. Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks,
Juliet
2/1/2015
RE: Lack of Visibility in PeopleSoft
Dear Members of the UTSA Research Community,
Lack of financial and operational visibility in Peoplesoft is affecting all of us. As VPR, we have escalated these issues in early Fall 2014 to the UT System level and the System has responded by initiating a new effort in November 2014 to resolve these issues.
This effort is focused on the Peoplesoft functions that affect specifically the research processes. After several meetings since Nov 2014, the issues have been prioritized and a timeline for developing solutions with new resources has been worked out. Both VPR and VPBA teams are doing their best to work with the System to systematically solve these interrelated problems.
I am kindly asking for your patience. Your Research Service Center (RSC) will be communicating with you as we make progress.
Sincerely,
Can Saygin

Remember all those New Year’s resolutions you boldly made four weeks ago, when you were stuck between the punch and the mistletoe. News radio 1200 WOAI’s Michael Board says this is the week that most of us give up on our resolutions. In fact, Facebook, which tracks things like when people check in at the gym, says this is the ‘week that New Year’s Resolutions go to die.’

Recognizing Faculty, Staff & Students

| ALL COEHD
We are proud of the accomplishments of COEHD faculty, students, and staff, but unfortunately we cannot write a full-feature article on every award or achievement that takes place. We would still like for everyone to know about these accomplishments so we have added a section to the weekly COEHDnews for Awards, Announcements and Recognition. If you know of someone in the college that deserves recognition please forward:the individuals name, department, what the honor was, and organization that gave the award.
