The Office of Research Support has contracted with an external organization to deliver a comprehensive series of proposal development workshops on April 13/14, 2015. They would like to request your assistance in promoting aggressively in your college. The workshops have many opened seats and are scheduled in short sessions to accommodate faculty schedules. Proposal Development Workshop Series
Monday, April 13 – Tuesday, April 14
8:30 A.M. – 2:30 P.M. each day
UTSA Main Campus, John Peace Library, Assembly Room (JPL 4.04.22)
Description: Faculty, staff, postdoctoral fellows, and students of all disciplines are invited to attend one or all of a series of short workshops focused on different funding opportunities and agencies. The guest facilitator will provide half-hour individual consultations for faculty. To register for a session and/or schedule an individual consultation, use the link(s) below for the session(s) of interest.
Facilitator: Ms. Deckard worked in research development at Texas A&M University for 8 years, most recently serving as Associate Director of the university’s Office of Proposal Development. She has helped to develop and write successful proposals to NSF, NIH, the Department of Education, the Department of Defense, and other agencies and foundations, including proposals for large institutional and center-level grants. In addition, she directed the university’s New Faculty Initiative, working with new faculty to jump start their research by helping them to identify funding opportunities, develop a strategy for pursuing funding, understand funding agencies, and learn how to write competitive proposals.

Let's get moving for the American Heart Association
The UTSA State Employee Charitable Campaign Planning Committee has teamed up with the UTSA Wellness Committee to host a healthy-walking activity on April 9, 2015 from 11am to 1pm in observance of National Walking Day. All funds raised for this event will be donated to the American Heart Association (AHA). UTSA faculty, staff and students are invited to help SECC meet and exceed the pledge goal of $2,000. There will be events at the all campuses. Registration and pledge forms are due no later than Thursday, April 9th, 2015.

Triadic supervision is frequently utilized in counseling programs. However there is a paucity of research on the experiences of student counselors' triadic supervision experiences. This phenomenological study focused on the experience of student counselors engaged in triadic supervision during practicum. The purpose was to understand two aspects of participants' triadic supervision experience - role discernment and relevant disclosure. Ten ethnically diverse female participants were interviewed for this project. Interviews allowed participants to explore their experiences and understanding of role discernment and disclosure as a new supervisee in the triadic supervision setting. Transcendental phenomenological analysis revealed results for each area of inquiry. Results yielded three subsequent themes related to role discernment: the experience of newness, dependence on supervisor, and impact of supervision. The essence of participant's role discernment experience was changed perception of self and other. Inquiry into disclosure experiences yielded the following themes: relationships, presence of peer, and sharing time. The essence of participants' disclosure experience was identified as heightened awareness. Specific implications for supervisors and counselor educators related to facilitating effective triadic supervision are explored and student counselors' need for pre-supervision preparation is addressed.
