Congratulations to a number of our BBL lead authors (Patricia Sánchez, Lucila Ek, & Carmen Tafolla) and ILT lead authors (Mari Cortez, Miriam Martinez, & Maria Arreguin-Anderson)-and their students-- who have an upcoming chapter in Clark, Flores, Smith, & Gonzalez book! In addition to artwork by award-winning Duncan Tonatiuh, we have original artwork and reflections throughout the book from Latino/Chicana artists.
Proud of all---as per Alma Flor Ada .... this the first Latino Children's MC book specifically targeting bilingual children and for preparing teachers that has a balance of theory and practice.

FW: Military Art Exhibit

This is an Art Show opening today, Wed. Sept 2, in the Art Gallery in the Art bldg.. curated by Dr. Scott Sherer and Marissa De Toro. She is the feature of the Roadrunner article today.
It focuses on the socioeconomic and health issues facing active duty, veterans and family members of the U.S. military, titled, "Uncertainty of a Life in Security: Veterans Back Home".
These are Veteran artists who are exhibiting and are photographs and well other art forms. There was an article I the Express news about it today.
It will run through Sept 30, if you would like to bring or send your students to see it.

Event Information:
The Center for Civic Engagement announces their first Civic Engagement Summit to be held on Monday, October 5th from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the UC Denman Ballroom. The Summit is an opportunity to showcase and share the variety of community engaged activities of UTSA students, faculty, and staff. This will be a unique opportunity for us to celebrate our Engaged Scholarship as a campus community.
The Summit is currently accepting proposals for poster presentations. Accepted proposals will present community engagement initiatives from UTSA's departments/programs/organizations highlighting their purpose and impact locally, nationally, and/or globally. The Call for Posters is open to UTSA students, faculty and staff. The Call for Posters deadline is Friday, September 11th.
