University Life Awards Nominations
by Janis Harmon
Dear COEHD Faculty and Staff,
The University Life Awards, sponsored by the UTSA Student Government Association, is a UTSA tradition that honors the most outstanding students, student organizations, faculty, and staff members on our campus. From the colleges, the Student Government Association will recognize an outstanding undergraduate and graduate student. Finalists and winners will be announced at the University Life Awards Banquet on Thursday, April 7th.
This office is seeking nominations for outstanding undergraduate and graduate students. In order to be eligible for the award, a student must be an undergraduate or graduate student majoring in the COEHD and currently enrolled at UTSA. The award is based upon academic achievement and involvement in the UTSA community.
Completed nomination forms should be submitted to me via email or campus mail no later than close of business Friday, February 12, 2016.
Thank you for your assistance and support in recognizing our most outstanding students.
Janis

Subject: Data Analytics Survey
Dear Faculty and Associate Deans,
Per the request from Dr. Agrawal, we are conducting a survey of the current usage and needs of UTSA faculty and students in the area of Big Data and Data Analytics.
To start, Max Kilger (COB) and I have created a survey, see link below.
Please take the survey and forward it to faculty in your college with particular emphasis on those you know who are working in the field, i.e., make sure they take the survey.
In addition, please collect information that you would like to feed back to me by email (not everything can be put in a survey) and send this information at any time.
That you for your support,
Harry

Subject: Capt. Montalván and his Service Dog Tuesday presentation
Hello Dr. Oswalt,
I wanted to announce a great speaker who will be in the JPL's Assembly Room at the end of the month, Wed. Feb. 24, at 6:30 pm.
You are invited to a special presentation by New York Times bestselling author and former U.S. Army Captain Luis Carlos Montalván-accompanied by his service dog, Tuesday-as he shares his experiences of war and healing, trauma and recovery, mental health, and pursuing his higher degree.
This link provides more information on the event and Capt. Montalván: UTSA's Wounded Warriors: Supporting our Student Veterans in their Pursuit of Higher Education<https://faculty.utsa.edu/events/utsas-wounded-warriors-supporting-our-stu...>
I hope that you will share this with your colleagues, department, and anyone else you think would be interested. This presentation is for faculty and staff, however if you know of any grad students or classes that would benefit from this opportunity, I ask that you share with them as well. I'd like a large receptive group to hear Capt. Montalván's story.
Many thanks,
Rachel
