Please see announcement below regarding an NIH interactive mentoring workshop available to faculty. This is sponsored by the National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) and hosted at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, KY. It is free for faculty to attend if they are accepted into the program (competitive process). I’ve had the opportunity to attend two of their NIH grantsmanship/training events in the past and can say that it is an excellent experience! On a related note – UTSA will be hosting an NIAID Regional Workshop March 26 & 27 here at the 1604 Campus. There will be at least 4 Institutes and Centers from NIH represented there. It will also be free of charge for attendees, which include PhD, postdoctoral and faculty-level researchers. More to come on this in the near future! Workshop at the University of Kentucky for a dynamic three-day workshop of intensive, interactive grant-writing training. We are currently accepting applications from faculty researchers at minority-serving institutions for our 2019 Get Funded! event. The workshop, designed for faculty members with biomedical research interests, will be held March 11, 12 & 13, 2019 on the campus of the University of Kentucky. Sessions focus on strategies to develop a competitive research proposal for submission to the NIH, using the NIH’s R01 funding mechanism as a model application. Dear COEHD Faculty: The NOI for the San Antonio Medical Foundation’s Collaborative Grant Program is due one week from tomorrow - December 14. We would like to encourage UTSA researchers to take advantage of this great opportunity. This program is intended to provide “seed money” incentives for healthcare and bioscience entities engaging in new collaborative initiatives. Typically, projects are 1-year in duration and funded at $200K. There are rare circumstances where longer project periods and greater funding levels are permitted (see Guideline document). Notice of Intent (NOI) Deadline: Friday, December 14th Priority is given to the pre-identified areas of excellence (listed alphabetically) for our community of: · Aging Studies · Cancer · Diabetes · Infectious Diseases · Neurologic Disorders; and · Trauma/Wound Care/Regenerative Medicine. New UTSA Seed Grant Program for Transdisciplinary Research

**New Seed Grant Program** The Transdisciplinary Teams (T2) Program will provide seed grants to support UTSA faculty members to engage in scholarly research activities that foster transdisciplinary collaborations. The primary goal of these awards is to assemble teams of researchers from different disciplines that will establish a foundation to seek extramural funding, ultimately advancing UTSA’s research excellence initiatives. It is anticipated that up to two grants for a maximum of $20,000 each may be awarded. December 2018 Commencement: Faculty Participant Instructions for Ceremony 1

Dear Faculty Member Participating in Commencement: Please note, faculty participant names did not upload correctly; therefore, if you've signed up to participate in December's Commencement you will need to send an email confirmation to Melissa.Lichtenberg(a)utsa.edu<mailto:Melissa.Lichtenberg@utsa.edu> to correct this error. The Provost Office and Office of Student Activities will need this information prior to Commencement. Thank you in advance. Thank you for your positive response to Dr. Kimberly Espy's memorandum inviting your participation in the University's December 2018 Commencement. The faculty for the College of Architecture, Construction, and Planning, College of Business, College of Education and Human Development, and College of Public Policy will need to assemble no later than 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, December 16, 2018 at the Alamodome. The Commencement ceremony processional will begin promptly at 10:00 a.m. in the Alamodome. A preliminary program/instruction sheet is attached for your reference that includes information on shuttle service being provided for all faculty participants. Shuttles will be provided from both the Main and Downtown campuses for all faculty. Please be sure to arrive no later than 8:30 a.m. to ride the shuttle to the Alamodome. The shuttle will also leave the ceremony no later than 12:30 p.m. Enter the Alamodome through the South entrance loading dock (see-attached layout). You will pass through a security check-point and will be subject to a bag check and security scan prior to entering the building. The faculty participants will robe in Meeting Room C/D on the lowest level. There will be signs and UTSA Ambassadors to assist you. If you have questions concerning Commencement, please contact me or contact your college's graduation coordinator.
