The purpose of this Children’s Healthy Learning Environments in Low-Income and/or Minority Communities solicitation (RFA) is to provide funds for capacity building activities to address disproportionate children’s environmental health harms and risks in school and/or childcare settings in, or that primarily serve, low-income and/or minority communities. This RFA provides funding directly to organizations to support school- and/or childcare center-based capacity building projects that help school communities understand and address local environmental and public health issues that affect children. Sloan Foundation Support for Authors Researching, Writing Books aimed at Public Understanding of Science and Technology Due Sept. 1,2021; Jan. 1, 2022; May 1, 2022. https://sloan.org/programs/public-understanding/books The Foundation remains committed to books, both for their intrinsic value as a matrix of uniquely rich experience and deep learning, and for their adaptability to other media for broader dissemination and popularization. The current book program began in 1996 and has supported over 200 authors. For the prior two decades, the Foundation supported the Sloan Series of Scientific Autobiographies in the 1980s and the Sloan Technology Series, begun in 1994, which was continued under the current program. Supported books tend to fall into the following categories: * Books that elucidate important subjects where the science is confusing or controversial; * Books that profile important figures in science and technology; * Books relating science and technology to daily life; * Books exploring the numerous connections between science, technology, and art; * Books about the relationship between women and science and technology; * Books about the culture and philosophy of science. The Foundation will sometimes deviate from these categories for book projects of unusual scientific, artistic, or cultural importance. I am writing to alert you that the deadline for the American Educational Research Association Proposals is July 20, Tuesday, Note 11:59 p.m. Pacific Standard Time. There is still time to submit a proposal. See announcement below. The Conference is Scheduled for April 22-25, 2022 in San Diego. This is a great opportunity for you to present your Research, encourage our Graduate and Undergraduate Students to participate in the world’s largest educational research conference, holding membership at 14,000 and to acquire new knowledge from every aspect of educational research—Psychology and Cognition, Literacy, Social-Emotional Development, Disciplines such as Mathematics, Science, History of Education, the Arts and Humanities, Health and Physical Education, Educational Administration, Counseling, International Comparisons, and more. The Book Exhibit is wonderful and may be a place to advertise your own publications. There are many possibilities for student funding at the College and Graduate School Offices, also through AERA.
