COEHD Staff Volunteers for Fall 2022 Orientation

Hello COEHD,
As it appears we are on the other side of the hill regarding COVID, Orientation and Family Programs is offering "in-person extended experiences" in addition to mandatory Online Orientation for the Fall 2022 season. These in-person extended experiences will be offered every Monday and Tuesday during the months of June and July and allow new, incoming students and their families an opportunity to come to campus and learn more about the University. Programming typically includes campus tours, team time with an Orientation Leader and other informational sessions. One of the sessions they are incorporating again this year is a Resource Fair.
The Resource Fair is an informational fair where many UTSA colleges and departments are represented to give promotional and informational material to new students and their families. It's a come and go event, and it is a great opportunity to share more information about COEHD. In order to ensure the COEHD Resource Fair table is always staffed and covered, I'd like to ask if COEHD Staff and Faculty would volunteer for at least one Orientation date.

I am very pleased to announce Dr. Belinda Flores has graciously agreed to continue in her role as Associate Dean. In exceptional fashion, Dr. Flores has served COEHD and the university for many years and has played a pivotal leadership role in spearheading innovations that have resulted in lasting benefits for the college that include among other accomplishments program development, enhanced clinical teacher preparation, and robust school district-university partnerships.
Personally, it has been a joy to work closely with Dr. Flores, to benefit from her wisdom and candor on issues and problems, and seeing her commitment to fostering an inclusive and culturally-efficacious climate for our faculty, staff, students, and our external stakeholders realized through her words and actions. I’m confident that despite whatever challenges come our way, Dr. Flores will make important contributions to finding solutions and moving us closer to realizing our collective aspirations.
You may remember this position was slightly revised to include “growth.” Dr. Flores will also be charged with helping with college recruitment efforts and facilitating enrollment growth through partnerships with school districts, social agencies, profits, and non-profits. This role is critical to our viability as a college. I’m thrilled Dr. Flores will be overseeing this area in view of her rich network and relational skills and I look forward to her many contributions.

You may remember this position was slightly revised to include “growth.” Dr. Flores will also be charged with helping with college recruitment efforts and facilitating enrollment growth through partnerships with school districts, social agencies, profits, and non-profits. This role is critical to our viability as a college. I’m thrilled Dr. Flores will be overseeing this area in view of her rich network and relational skills and I look forward to her many contributions.
